Happy Independence Day!! We hope you have a wonderful day with friends and family. Just a reminder, summer is synonymous with barbecues, parades and fireworks. The National Safety Council advises everyone to enjoy fireworks at public displays conducted by professionals, and not to use any fireworks at home. They may be legal but they are not safe.

Every year, thousands of people are injured badly enough to require medical treatment after fireworks-related incidents, with many of the injuries to children and young adults. While the majority of these incidents are due to amateurs attempting to use professional-grade, homemade or other illegal fireworks or explosives, less powerful devices like small firecrackers and sparklers can also cause significant injuries.

Additionally, fireworks start an average of 19,000 fires each year. Be safe!

🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July! Our Irondale Fire Department, Irondale Police Department, and Public Works Department will be staffing the Cahaba River for the holiday weekend to make sure citizens are safe and our natural resources are cared for.

Team work at its finest today in our training lab! Station 2 crew trained on “mega code”. This training refers to a person in cardiac arrest. Training is what makes us the BEST at what we do for our citizens we serve in the City of Irondale.❤️❤️

Week 7 of the Citizens Fire Academy was completed on Saturday. The participants learned about fire ground tactics/operations along attack hose advancements. In addition to learning about operations, they had the opportunity to flow water. T-1 was available for the citizens to “go up” and get an aerial view.❤️

Week 3 is a wrap for our EMT BASIC class! This week students learned about cardiovascular emergencies, respiratory emergencies and anaphylaxis emergencies. Big shout out to the crew on Rescue 1 for assisting with the cardiac monitoring, glucometer and patient assessments. Congratulations to our student of the week Grant McGill, currently a volunteer with West Blount Fire & Rescue. 🎉🎊⚕️

What an amazing morning we had at Eden Westside Baptist Church River Campus along with Irondale Police Department, Leeds Alabama Police Department and the Leeds Fire & Rescue! The parking lot was at full capacity!❤️❤️Thank you for the wonderful food and fellowship.

Crews did a great job containing a woods fire yesterday near the 1900 block of Grants Mill Rd. They had to cut and clear a trail to gain access to the fire (almost a half mile) and then begin extinguishing and containing the growth of the fire. From their hard work and dedication they were able to contain the fire to just roughly an acre of wooded area.

Our 2nd week of EMT BASIC is in the books! Students this week completed patient assessment along with airway skills. Congratulations to our student of the week, Jake Englund (Not from State Farm) is employed with the Pelham Fire Department. Week 6 of the Citizens Fire Academy was a class to remember! Participants were taught all about the gear that protect us. They learned how P.P.E. is designed and how important it is for the firefighters to go into hazardous conditions and do what we do in a safe manner. They all had the opportunity to put on the gear and feel the added weight and bulkiness the gear adds to the firefighters.

First week of EMT BASIC is in the books! Students completed their CPR training today. We would like to congratulate Matthew Perkins as our EMT student of the week⚕️Mr. Perkins achieved the highest GPA and he is a former graduate of the Hoover RC3 program. Congratulations. 🎉🎊🚑

Did you know that our firefighters not only train for fires but also train for medical emergencies? Today all crews trained in our state of the art training lab. Today's topic covered Intraosseous access and chest needle decompression. This training keeps our personal up to date with the skills needed to give our citizens the best care possible!❤️

Our EMT BASIC class is off to a strong start with 19 students representing a 3 county radius with our youngest being 17 years old.. This is our “first”on site EMT class and will end in late July. Week 4 of our Citizens Fire Academy was a success! Citizens learned all about the wonderful programs taking place within the City.❤️ Once the classroom portion was finished, participants had a hands on demo on our "one of a kind" fire safety trailer. Lt. Brasher went over all the training capabilities the trailer has in addition to the severe weather module.

In Memory of Firefighter Albert Tinney IV,
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the Center Point Fire District announced the sudden and tragic loss of Firefighter/Paramedic Albert Tinney IV, on May 29th, 2024. Albert served with dedication, bravery, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of our community.
Albert joined Center Point Fire District on July 18, 2021, and has been a valued member ever since.
Over the years, he exemplified the true spirit of a firefighter-courageous, selfless, and always ready to serve.
As we mourn this tremendous loss, our thoughts and prayers are with Alberts's family, friends, and colleagues. We extend our deepest condolences and support to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
Rest in peace, Albert. You will never be forgotten, and your spirit will live on in the hearts of those you touched along the way of this path we call life. Rest easy our brother we will hold the line from here.

Week 2 of our Citizens Fire Academy is a wrap! Citizens learned all about our communication call center in addition to all the roles our dispatchers have during their shift. After the presentation, they had the opportunity to tour the call center and see all the vital roles the dispatcher performs. Big THANKS go out to our Irondale 911 Dispatch and Communications!

Students at Irondale Community School had a very special guest and was treated to an action packed presentation by Corporal Schell and K9 Lima.🐕‍🦺 The kids had a great time learning the importance of what Lima's responsibilities are within the Irondale Police Department.❤️

The first night of our Citizens Fire Academy is in the books! The night was filled with information, food and fun! Participants were educated on the history of Irondale Fire all the way back to 1887. In addition to our history, they learned about the rank and structure of the fire department. After the classroom portion they had a tour of Station 1.

Congratulations to our newest CERT team graduates. ❤️❤️This group finished the course with a hands on search and rescue and table top discussion.
Once they completed the first phase of the drill they moved to the final phase to our “Fire Safety Trailer” where they each had a stove top fire and used fire extinguishers.

We had a very special visitor to stop by Station 2. Meet Lima, the newest member of the Irondale Police Department. Lima’s primary role will be narcotic detection and tracking. She is a 3 year old German Shepherd and this was her first official week with Irondale Police Department.
