We want to send out a huge thank you to officer Wyatt Grimm with forestry for teaching our up and coming lawrence county search and rescue team about map reading. He spent the evening with us teaching different maps and also going over atv basics. Thank you officer Grimm, stay safe out there!

Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Department got the hook-up today with a full set of rescue tools (and more to come!!). We would like to say thank you to Citizens First Fire Training for helping us with the grant and just being all around awesome. They came today and installed everything for us and will be back in a few weeks to do even more training with us. 10/10 we definitely recommend them, and we appreciate them so much. Today is a GREAT day!!!

Last night we had the pleasure of attending a class on autism. Tracy Kelly did an amazing job with this class, not only did she teach us about autism she also put it into the perspective of the first responder. 10/10 great class, highly recommended for all first responders.

You are NEVER alone. We are here for one another. Do you need someone to listen while you dump your emotions? Do you need someone to have a cup of coffee with and talk about something dumb and off the wall? Do you need someone to sit with you quietly and do nothing? Do you need someone to hold the heavy bag while you punch out you frustrations? Do you need a safe place to cry, scream or vent?
Please reach out! We are here! You are NEVER alone!

We got the honor of helping to bring a fellow firefighter home for the last time yesterday. The pictures do not show exactly what was happening. All of these departments are from Kentucky and Ohio, there were fire, police and ems in the procession. What we saw while driving in it is what brought tears to my eyes, 64 literally shut down, route 60, shut down, not because it was blocked but because the people in the oncoming lanes stopped and stood outside of their vehicles. People stood on the road way with their hand over their hearts. It was humbling to watch to say the very least. To be a part of it, I know in my apparatus there wasn't a dry eye, you felt the love and respect that all of those people were giving for this young man. As a volunteer your never really off the clock, it's a 24/7 commitment to always be there for people. I'm proud to see how firefighters from all over, many who do not even know each other, all came together for this. It's proof that it doesn't matter what city, township, county or even state you come from, this brotherhood (sisterhood) is strong. We are all the same people just wearing different shirts and driving vehicles lettered a little different. It's not just firefighters, it's all first responders in this family. To summit- ironville fire department, our hearts go out to you during this time of mourning, know that we carry you all in our thoughts. To the family of this amazing young man, we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers, know all of these people you saw bringing him home are here for you in any way. We help people, it's what we do. Rest easy young man, your brothers and sisters will take it from here.
