Wanted to take a minute to show some appreciation to some of the members that recieved plaques at yesterday evenings training recap.

Capt. Andrew Christian recieved the Daytona 500 award for always having a stellar response time.

Firefighter Tom Runyon recieved the Electrician of the year award for all his handy work around the department.

Firefighter Jonathon Gannon recieved 2 awards, he was given his 10 year service award and also firefighter of the year.

Member Cody Pritchard recieved probie of the year for always willing to jump in and help where ever and whenever he can.

Firefighter Jeff Joseph recieved the Jeff Joseph Award, anyone who knows Jeff would understand. 🤣

Lt Nicholas Gannon recieved the officer of the year award for always being there and doing the extra things.

Deputy Chief Charlie Runyon recieved the lifetime member award this award is given to members that have been on the Department for 50 years.

These members work full time jobs and still make time to help others, for free. This is not a easy thing to do, but it is very rewarding. These plaques are one of the ways we can show appreciation for these members. They leave their families at all hours of the day (holidays and mealtime included) to run into danger and help someone they may not even know. We just want to say thank you to all of our members and the citizens that make this possible!

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Ashland Fire Department says even a small amount of cooking oil can cause a very large fire when it encounters the open flame burner design of a turkey fryer.

“Public Service Announcement - RED LIGHTS on Vehicles

Have you ever seen someone driving behind you with a RED flashing light? What does that RED light mean?

In Ohio flashing RED / RED WHITE lights displayed (with no BLUE flashing lights) on a vehicle indicates a volunteer firefighter is responding to a 911 call in their personal vehicle. They are responding to their firehouse, or to the scene to provide the manpower needed for the emergency.

If you see a passenger car with a flashing RED light, please consider treating it like any other emergency vehicle; we (your Community Volunteers) are requesting the right of way - this is a courtesy light. When it is safe to do so, please pull over to the right and come to a complete stop, so that we may travel safely past.

Many people don't realize what these flashing RED lights are for. Every second counts. Help us help you. You never know, we could be responding to an emergency for a friend, or one of your loved ones.” —Duplin Fire Public Service Announcement

Tomorrow October 13, an explosive company will bring down the smokestack on Commerce Avenue in the industrial park.

Commerce Avenue will be closed to traffic from about 10:45 till about noon.

I don’t know how loud the explosion will be, but be prepared for a “boom”! during that time.

This paves the way for more development and more jobs in our park.

Lydia Mihalik , Director, Ohio Department of Development , will do the plunger honors.
