Prior Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance is my quote for the day! The snow is coming down up here on the hill. I am taking my own advice and staying off the roadways. However, the old Tahoe is running and we are keeping the snow off of it to be prepared for whatever you may need. I also want to thank everyone that has reached out to me offering assistance this morning. I definitely appreciate you all. It’s always good to know that we have extra help if needed. For now we are just standing by and allowing the road crews a chance to work without getting in their way. Please everyone do the same! If any essential workers need transportation to and from work here in Estill let us know. We will do our best to help. Call dispatch at 606-723-2201 or send us a message.

Here is my current situation since around 12:30 am. The Winterstorms haven’t even hit yet and Jackson Energy is already having to call a crew out early this morning at 2 am to repair this pole after a truck collided with it. They will be lucky to get this repaired before the winter weather sets in. I ask everyone that doesn’t have to be out to please stay in. The weather coming will create enough problems for us to deal with over the next few days. If you do have to get out please be prepared if your vehicle was to slide off of the road. Have an emergency kit with warm weather gear in your vehicle. All of the tow trucks in our area are two wheel drive and they sometimes may not be able to get to you until the roads get cleared. Depending on the situation with the ice/snow we may be delayed getting to you as well. I have spent all day getting an old Tahoe Patrol vehicle loaded with everything that I can think of to be prepared to respond to as much as we can. I have 3 chainsaws, tow straps, tools, hydraulic jack, jump boxes, and even an air tank. If you need us call and we will do our best to help. Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe!

The Estill County Sheriff's Office is aware of rumors circulating that the shooter from Laurel county has been seen in Estill county. This is false. There is no need for concern regarding this situation at this time due to the fact that we have not received any information that would link the shooter to Estill county. If we receive information that states otherwise we will investigate and keep the public informed.

An ExMark mower similar to this one was left in a ditch yesterday afternoon around the 1000 block of Cow Creek Rd. When the owner returned a few hours later to pull it from the ditch it was gone. If anyone saw anyone around this mower trying to pull it out of the ditch yesterday please send us the information. This would have happened somewhere between 1:30 pm- 7pm yesterday.
