Jaclyn’s UC Irvine story has come full circle. She grew up in the Inland Empire, moved to Orange County to attend UCI, and graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminology. After college, she spent six and a half years working as a police/fire/medical dispatcher in Hawthorne at the South Bay Regional Public Communications Authority, a regional communications center that covers six cities in LA County. Now, she’s back at UCI as part of the UC Irvine Police Department (UCIPD) Dispatch Team.

Since joining UCIPD in September 2022, Jaclyn has made a big impact behind the scenes. She has helped officers respond to incidents by using campus cameras to track suspects in real time, including multiple bicycle and scooter theft cases. Her attention to detail, quick thinking, and strong knowledge of the job have made her an important part of the dispatch center. Her work has earned multiple commendations outside of UCIPD, including a SoCal APCO Chapter Honorable Mention for Telecommunicator of the Year and the Golden Headset Award.

She’s also known for supporting the people around her. Jaclyn helps new hires, mentors student workers interested in dispatching, shares useful information with the team, and is always looking for ways to improve how the center operates.

Outside of work, Jaclyn enjoys hosting game nights, taking on escape rooms, watching Red Sox games, and spending time with her husband and their two cats. She’s also a huge Harry Potter and Halloween fan.

National Police Week gives us a moment to pause, remember the officers who lost their lives in service, and recognize the people who continue to show up for their communities every day.

We’re grateful for the UC Irvine community and for the many people who make this a special place to be part of.

📞💬 Calling dispatch can feel intimidating. We get it.

But you don’t need a perfect script or everything figured out beforehand.

Whether you’re reporting something suspicious, asking for help, or just unsure what to do next, our dispatchers are here to listen and guide you through it.

Anteaters look out for each other—and sometimes that starts with making the call.

🎉🙌 In the spirit of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, we’re grateful for dispatchers who help make those stressful moments a little easier.
