Karlie, our Summer Intern, started last week and she has hit the ground running!
Some of you may have seen this flyer in your student's Thursday folder. Sign up do not start until June 29, but we wanted to get the information out to you so you can save the date.
If you have youth 9-18(must have reached their 9th, but not 19th birthday before January 1, 2026) wanting to learn about cake decorating, Cake it Awesome, is for them! Join Karlie, July 8-9, from 10a.m.-2p.m. (please feed youth before dropping off. A small snack will be provided) and learn all about cake decorating. Photos of cakes will be taken to be entered into our 4-H Expo the following week, with an opportunity to advance to the Kentucky State Fair in August. A current 4-H Enrollment Form must be on file or completed before attending Cake it Awesome. Not only will youth be taking home a decorated cake, youth will be working in teams to bake and decorate cakes to be delivered to the Estill County Senior Citizen's Center to celebrate July birthdays, as well as, celebrating a birthday at Irvine Nursing and Rehabilitation. Spots are limited so save the date for signs up. If you have any questions, please reach out at 606-723-4557.

We invite you to participate in our Youth Art Contest and showcase what means to you!

Young artists are encouraged to think creatively about how agriculture shows up in their daily lives and communities, then draw and color in their provided county outline. Each University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension county office will select one winning entry to be featured in a special display at the 2026 Kentucky State Fair.

Spots are running out for our 2026 4-H Summer Camp. As of today, we have 9 spots left for boys, 6 spots left for girls, and still needing 2 teen girls (ages 16-17 to be Junior Counselors). Youth ages 9-15 get to attend 4 fun filled days of Summer Camp for only $85 (thanks to the generosity of the Estill County District Board for covering the 75% of the cost for each youth).

Stop by the Estill County Extension Office and pick up an application while there's still time. Open Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm (closed for lunch 12-1 on Thursday and Friday).

We accept cash or check (made out to the Estill County 4-H Council).

Estill County 4-H has limited spots available for camp. As of today we have the following: 13 boy spots and 9 girl spots available. Cost is $85 and covers transportation, lodging, 3 meals a day, camp t-shirt, snacks and classes. Camp will be held July 28-July 31, 2026 at J.M. Feltner 4-H Camp in London, Kentucky. Youth and parent/guardian will have to attend a mandatory camp orientation prior to attending camp. For more information call 606-723-4557.

We are also seeking 2 teen girls ages 16-17 to be junior counselors. Junior counselors attend free.

All UK Extension offices will be closed on Monday, May 25th, 2026. We will reopen on Tuesday, May 26th.

Registration is open for any Estill county youth ages 9-18 years (which is 4-H age, youth having been 9 to
18 as of January 1st of this current year). The Youth Talent Show will be at Steam Engine Pizza on Friday night, June 19th.
Talent acts can include music, singing, speeches, dancing, demonstrations, comedy, magic, and more!!

We've worked with EPIC (Estill Pathfinder Initiative Coalition) to bring the opportunity.... now Estill families just have to bring the entertainment. Nothing beats real, on-stage experiences in front of family and friends cheering you on. Great way to help our kids find a spark!
