🐖 4H Country Ham Club🐖
Youth, remember our meeting at 4pm on Tuesday, June 16th!!
We will discuss the speech portion of your ham project, and provide speech writing information, guidelines, and tips!
The main speech writing presentation will be over by 5pm, but you can stay until about 6 if needed. Parents/Guardians are welcome to join us, so you can better help your Youth prepare!

Presenting a speech of certain length (depending on age group) at the State Fair in August is a requirement to receive your hams at the end of the project year (after State Fair).

First day of our State FFA Convention week was all about middle school FFA chapters on Monday! Estill had members compete in the following contests:
🔹️ Opening & Closing Ceremonies Team comprised of Kylee Nichols, President; Cole Riddell, Vice President; Blake Kuykendoll, Secretary; Jolene Nichols, Treasurer; Kris Philhower, Reporter; Parker Muncy, Sentinel
🔹️Prepared Public Speaking, Kylee Nichols
🔹️ FFA Quiz Bowl: Kris Philhower, Kylee Nichols, Jolene Nichols, and Cole Riddell
🍗 A lot of us tried Slim Chickens for the first time, and we all agree...they have the BEST water!
🍩 Our new friend at Krispy Kreme just loves to give away free donuts for A's on report cards (or IC, in a pinch!).
A lot of firsts, sweet surprises, and this week!

Congratulations to Corbyn!
6th grade Ag Exploratory students participated in the Ag Is Everywhere contest as part of our unit on Ky Agriculture, and we had a lot of wonderful student artwork!
So excited to see Corbyn's talent displayed to represent Extension, ECMS, and Estill Co Agriculture

Congratulations to Corbyn F. for being chosen as the Ag Is Everywhere: Youth Art Contest winner! Corbyn's Art will be on display at the Kentucky State Fair in August 2026, representing Estill County as part of the 120 county Kentucky mural. Estill had 46 entries in the contest!!

Check out the post highlighting our THREE members that received Launch Grants this spring--Levi Campbell, Jase Isaacs, and Cole Riddell. These students have some great things going on!
Rachel Alexander was also selected to receive a grant for her SAE project, and did a fantastic job planning for improvements to her livestock operation!

Spring 2026 SAE Launch Grant recipients have been announced 💙💛

Students may apply for a $500 SAE Launch Grant to launch a new SAE project or expand an existing one. These grants help Kentucky FFA members turn ideas into hands-on learning experiences and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Thank you to Central Kentucky Ag Credit, Cargill, EO Robinson, First Southern National Bank , Hutson, Inc., the Mulhollem Cravens Foundation, and the Snowy Owl Foundation for supporting these opportunities for Kentucky FFA members.

Ag students made some fabulous hats & beautiful fascinators for the Oaks and Derby! So proud of the work they put into them and how well they turned out!
Many dressed up for the day as well, and we appreciate the staff that joined in the celebration! I missed a few pictures, of course 🤦‍♀️ (and I apologize to 7th period, I didn't get any pictures! We'll just have to do it again!) .

Ag students getting ready for the BIG days ahead...The Oaks and The Ky Derby!
Fascinators and fancy hats in the works today...stepping out tomorrow for the Fillies!
They worked very hard and did a wonderful job today! Can't wait to show them off tomorrow!

Congratulations to these FFA members for being selected to receive a $500 SAE Launch Grant!
All three grants were generously sponsored by the E.O. Robinson Mountain Fund.
These young men were 3 of only 91 applicants selected from across Kentucky for the spring round of grants.
Grant funds will be used by members to "launch" a new agriculture-related Supervised Ag Experience (SAE) project, or improve an existing project.
Congratulations also to Miss Rachel Alexander, ECHS member who was also chosen to receive an SAE Grant this spring to purchase handling equipment for her SAE in sheep & goat production.
