International Firefighters' Day is observed annually on May 4th.
We would like to take this time to express our appreciation for their courage, dedication, and willingness to serve our community. These first responders are vital to our city. IRVINE TRAFFIC LIGHTS

- Situation: Traffic lights in town are currently operating on an unusual (odd) schedule.
- Cause: The Kentucky Transportation Department (KYTC) is performing a crosswalk study.
- Outcome: After the study finishes, traffic light timings will be reset.

Implications and what to expect:

- Drivers and pedestrians may experience atypical signal timing (longer/shorter waits, different phasing) until the reset.
- Temporary confusion or increased congestion and safety risk are possible; exercise extra caution at intersections.
- Once the study is complete, signal timing should be adjusted to improve pedestrian crossings and traffic flow.

BEARS FOR BABES
The Irvine Police Department has started a new project called Bears for Babes. When the Officers answer a call and there are children in the home, they will be giving them a Boyds Bear or a Ty Beanie Baby Bear. The hope is to create a gentle first contact between children and police officers to foster trust and help with a stressful situation.
