Thanks to strong investigative work and close collaboration between the Smith County Sheriff’s Office and the Tyler Resident Office of the U.S. Secret Service, an incarcerated Georgia man has been charged with stealing from a Texas woman.
The victim was targeted in a phone scam and instructed to deposit $13,000 into a Bitcoin machine in Tyler. Law enforcement traced the scam to Marcus Allen Daniels, a Georgia inmate, and recovered evidence from his illegal cellphone linking him to the theft.
This case highlights the importance of law enforcement partnerships in protecting our community from financial crimes.
