The Seneca Nation will host New York Governor Kathy Hochul on the Cattaraugus Territory this Tuesday for a formal apology to our people for the State’s role in operating the Thomas Indian School. Thomas Indian School alumni and survivors interested in participating are asked to call the President’s office before 12pm on Monday to make arrangements.

The Seneca community is also invited to hear this historic public apology. Please be aware that there will be certain restrictions in place around the William Seneca Building and former Thomas Indian School campus on Tuesday. I will release a PSA on Monday detailing the logistics surrounding the Governor’s visit. Further updates will be posted to the Seneca Media & Communications Center social media platforms. Nya:weh.

Heyhey everyone, a quick PSA for Cattaraugus Territory. I have directed the Seneca Nation Marshals to intervene and stop the spraying of manure fertilizer until further notice. Please notify them of any further issues that may occur in the next few days while we investigate this matter.

This was a great day in 2023. On the this day, we were advocating for a Fair Compact. Cyrus was a good friend, a true leader and will be greatly missed. His spirit will live on in all of us.

Heyhey everyone! It’s been a busy week- I’ve been working with our Legislative team daily to prepare for a smooth transition of leadership.

On Thursday, my family’s “Nicole and JC Seneca Foundation” donated 100 new coats to the annual Coats 4 Kids coat drive. I’d like to recognize Colvin Cleaners for always being a helping hand to the WNY community. We are also working on similar donations for two coat drives within our own communities as well.

Also on Thursday, my wife and I attended Buffalo Business First’s Power 100 People of Color announcement. It’s my third year making the list, and I’m honored to be selected as #31 this year. I’d like to congratulate Kevin Nephew for coming in at #4!

On Friday, my family and I attended my wife’s Alma Mater, Hilbert College basketballs “Hawks Against Hunger Tip-Off Tourney”, of which we are a sponsor. We were able to meet the team and have pizza with them afterward.

I was honored to be a banquet speaker last night at the 34th Annual National/International Native American Indian Alcoholics Anonymous Convention in Niagara Falls. It’s such a powerful feeling to share stories and encouragement with others who are on the same journey.

Tomorrow is Veteran’s Day, and also Treaty Day in Canandaigua, recognizing the 230th anniversary of the treaty. I encourage everyone to thank a veteran and attend an event to honor them, and also to learn about treaties and their importance.

Tuesday is Canvass Day! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and celebrating with you as leadership takes their oath of office.
