Irving offers memberships to eight recreation centers, the Heritage Senior Center (currently closed) and the Lively Pointe Youth Center which provides ways to stay in shape year-round, including:

The “Faces of COVID” exhibit is now open in the lobby of the Jack D. Huffman Community Building. The exhibit honors victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and serves as a way residents can honor loved ones they’ve lost. Face coverings and social distancing are required. The exhibit is free. Irving students in grades 3-12 are invited to submit an essay about UNITY to commemorate the life and work of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay contest winners will be featured in a special tribute video released on Jan. 17, 2021 honoring the special day. It is tradition at the Heritage Senior Center to celebrate the New Year together with a toast and party to follow. Although the seniors are not able to gather and celebrate, staff put together individual party bags for the participants in the drive-thru meal program. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!

Northwest Park Recreation Center would like to invite all Irving residents to pick up a sharpie and leave a message on the “We Are One” mural from Dec. 21-31. Hours are during normal operating hours from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Please note the Center will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

During the pandemic, it is important for the community to become one and try to add something for everyone to enjoy. Please call (972) 721-2529 for more information.
