Please stay off the roads if you can!

We just spoke with Mayor Charles Lucas of the City of Irvington. He advised that road conditions within Irvington are currently poor to treacherous; however, city road crews are continuing to work throughout the event.

The Mayor asks that citizens who do not absolutely need to be out please remain at home for their safety. City road crews will be working until dark this evening, will take a brief break, and then return around midnight to continue working throughout the night on city streets.

The Irvington Police Department continues to provide patrol services and will respond to calls for service as needed.

The current state of the roads is less than ideal. crews are working tirelessly to keep up with the falling snow and ice. In light of this, we strongly advise STAYING HOME and letting the road crews clear the roads.

Breckinridge County Schools Closed

[BCS] Breckinridge County Schools will be CLOSED today, Thursday, January 22, 2026. Due to current freezing temperatures, many roads have dangerous black ice and with temperatures not forecasted to go above freezing until at least 11:00 AM today, road conditions remain unsafe . This will be NTI Day #5.
