The Public Safety Director, Tracy Bowers, and Deputy Police Director, Ardwin Way, expressed their satisfaction with the initiative and the positive outcome achieved by the Irvington Public Safety Department.
On July 18, 2026, a heavy downpour occurred during the entire funeral service of our esteemed Retired Detective Captain Lester B. Wilson. Rain during a funeral holds symbolic significance in various cultures and historical beliefs. It was considered a positive omen, suggesting that his soul was welcomed into heaven.
The SOA President, Calloway, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the members who demonstrated their unwavering support.
“I would like to acknowledge everyone who came out today to send Brother Wilson home with dignity and respect.
In particular, I want to express my gratitude to Brothers Mike Johnson, Bilal Johnson, David Reyes, and Mario Clarke for their exceptional planning, logistics, and the provision of necessary equipment, especially in the challenging and rainy conditions.
To all those who stood in the rain to honor Captain Lester Wilson’s journey, you will always hold my deepest respect and gratitude.
Capt Wilson’s wife expressed her profound gratitude from the bottom of her heart on behalf of her family. She was moved by the overwhelming love and respect shown by the entire IPD family during this difficult time.”
