⚠️ COMMUNITY ADVISORY – COYOTE ACTIVITY ⚠️

The Irvington Police Department has received several reports of coyote sightings throughout the Village over the past several days. Some of the reports received today indicated that the coyote was becoming increasingly brazen and exhibiting behavior that has raised concern among residents.

Officers responded to the reported locations and conducted area canvasses, but were unable to locate the animal.

Unfortunately, this evening, the Police Department received a report from a resident that their dog was attacked by a coyote within the Village. Officers responded to the area, but the coyote had already fled prior to their arrival.

We urge all residents to exercise caution, particularly during the early morning and evening hours when coyotes are most active. Pets should be closely supervised at all times and brought indoors whenever possible. Residents are also reminded not to leave pet food, garbage, or other attractants outside.

If you observe a coyote in the Village, please contact the Irvington Police Department immediately so that officers can respond and assess the situation.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to ensure the safety of our community.

A great night at Yankee Stadium for some of our officers this past Friday (even though they lost)!

As part of our Officer Wellness Program, members of the department had the opportunity to enjoy a Yankees game, spend time together outside of work, and recharge from the daily demands of law enforcement.

Programs like this are made possible through the NY CaresUP grant, which supports officer wellness initiatives and helps agencies prioritize the health and well-being of their members.

We're grateful for the support and for opportunities that strengthen camaraderie, boost morale, and remind us of the importance of taking care of those who serve our community every day.

Today, the Irvington Police Department hosted a “Coffee with a Cop” event on Main Street in front of Police Headquarters. ☕🚓

It was a great opportunity to connect with members of our community, share conversations over coffee, and continue strengthening the relationship between the police department and the residents we proudly serve.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by today. We love our community and look forward to hosting more events like this in the future!

Over the last two weeks, the Irvington Police Department and PBA have enjoyed several opportunities to connect with members of our community through fun and meaningful events.

Our first stop was Truck Day at the Irvington Library, where children had the chance to meet officers, explore our police vehicles, and learn more about what we do each day. Seeing the excitement and curiosity from the kids made for a great event for everyone involved.

We also continued a longtime Bulldog Day tradition by handing out ice pops to students at Dows Lane and Main Street Schools — a simple tradition that always brings plenty of smiles.

At the Irvington Police Department, we take pride not only in keeping our community safe, but also in building strong relationships with the people we serve. We are grateful for every opportunity to engage with our residents and look forward to many more community events ahead!

🚨 Irvington Police Fi****ms Range 🚨

The fi****ms range will be in use today and again on May 26th and 27th. Fi****ms training is not only essential but it is also mandatory. Officers are required to train on all types of fi****ms that the Department has.

While it may be alarming to hear the range in use during these times, be assured that all proper safety precautions are being practiced. Our fi****ms instructors are ensuring the safety of all officers and the surrounding community. Thank you for your understanding.

This week, we join the nation in observing National Police Week. It is a time to reflect on the courage of those who wear the badge and to honor the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

We pause to honor the memory of one of our own whose legacies remain a cornerstone of our Department:

Police Officer George E. Duggan , who was killed in the line of duty on March 3, 1929.

PO Duggan’s service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We encourage you to visit the Officer Down Memorial Page to read more about his story and the history of law enforcement heroes.

To the men and women of the Irvington Police Department who continue to protect our streets with integrity and compassion: Thank you. Join us this week in showing your support for our officers and the families of the fallen.
