Today’s NJMVC Mobile Unit event was a great success! We were excited to connect with residents and help provide accessible services directly in the community.

Thank you to NJMVC, our municipal partners, public safety personnel, and all the residents who stopped by throughout the day. A special thank you to Mayor Andrea Hyatt of Hillside for her partnership and continued support in helping bring valuable resources directly to the community.

We appreciate everyone who helped make today possible and look forward to hosting more community events across Legislative District 28.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Active Duty Irvington Firefighter Malik Simpson of FMBA Local 14.

Firefighter Simpson served with courage and dedication, and his loss is felt across the Irvington community and beyond.

District 28 stands with Irvington during this difficult time.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Simpson family, as well as our brothers and sisters of Irvington FMBA Local 14 and Irvington Fire Officers IAFF Local 2004.

We honor his life, service, and sacrifice.

Today we recognize Renee C. Burgess, New Jersey State Senator from Essex County and one of the most disciplined ladder climbers in public service.

Irvington raised her. Irvington shaped her. And step by step, she's earned the trust of her constituents.

District Leader.
School Board Member.
City Council President.
State Senator.

Too often we celebrate titles without understanding the groundwork. Senator Burgess built hers from the inside out, learning neighborhoods before navigating Trenton, understanding her community needs before debating statewide policy.

In a state where movement through political ranks can be fast or transactional, her trajectory represents something different. Community leadership that grew through service, not spotlight.
