Investing in safer communities means investing in the people and organizations doing the work every single day.

I was proud to join the Newark Community Street Team (NCST) to highlight critical funding that will support their continued efforts to strengthen neighborhoods, prevent violence, connect residents with resources, and create safer communities throughout Newark.

NCST’s work is rooted in community, trust, and direct engagement, and I am proud to support investments that help expand their impact and ensure they have the resources needed to continue serving our residents.

When we invest in community-based solutions, we invest in a safer and stronger Newark.

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of visiting WBGO 88.3 FM to celebrate the $1 million in state funding we secured for this Newark institution! 🎶

For generations, WBGO has preserved the legacy of jazz, elevated diverse voices, and connected listeners in Newark and beyond. This investment will help ensure its important cultural and educational work continues for years to come.

✔️SIGNED INTO LAW

I am proud to share that Governor Mikie Sherrill has signed S-4390/A-5165, the “End Data Center Tax Credits Act,” into law.

This bipartisan legislation ends $250 million in tax-credit incentives for large AI data centers, ensuring taxpayer resources are used responsibly and for the benefit of New Jersey families.

Thank you to my fellow sponsors, Senators Joe Cryan and Nick Scutari and Assemblymembers Andrew Macurdy, Balvir Singh, and Annette Quijano, for their partnership.

“Polluters should pay — not our families.”

Proud to stand with advocates and fellow legislators yesterday in support of the Polluters Pay to Make New Jersey More Affordable Act (S2338/A3735).

As a co-sponsor of S2338, I’m committed to making sure New Jersey families aren’t left footing the bill for pollution they didn’t create.

Today, I was proud to stand with advocates, community leaders, and fellow legislators at the Make Polluters Pay Rally in support of the Polluters Pay to Make New Jersey More Affordable Act (S2338/A3735).

As a proud co-sponsor of this legislation, I believe our communities should not be left carrying the financial and health burdens created by decades of pollution. We must continue working to ensure that the corporations that contributed to these conditions are held accountable and pay their fair share toward building a healthier, safer, and more resilient New Jersey.

Thank you to Senate prime sponsors Senator John McKeon, Senator Bob Smith, and Senator Raj Mukherji, as well as Assembly prime sponsors Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill, Assemblywoman Shama Haider, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, and Assemblyman Michael Venezia, for their leadership on this important legislation.

Our residents deserve clean air, resilient communities, and an affordable future, and I am proud to stand with those working to make that future possible.
