05/24/2025
As the Class of 2025 prepares for their big day,
Todayβs practice echoes, excitement on display.
With caps and gowns ready, they gather with cheer,
Tomorrow at 9, graduation is near!
'Twas the night before graduation, and all through the school,
Not a student was stirring, they followed the rule.
Their caps hung by the gowns with care,
In hopes that their futures soon would be fair.
The seniors were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of college/military/work danced in their heads.
And I in my cap, and they in their gowns,
Had just settled down to dream of new towns.
When out in the Palace, there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my dreams to see what was the matter.
Away to the door, I flew like a flash,
Tore open the curtains and made a mad dash.
The sun on the grass gave a luminous glow,
And the banners and posters all lined up in a row.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a stage full of friends, all gathered near.
With a big ole' Bluetooth speaker to play,
I knew in a moment, it must be graduation day!
More rapid than warriors, our classmates they came,
And we cheered and we shouted, calling each one by name.
"Now, Coats! Now, Smith! Now, Corbin and Diaz!
On, Chatman! On, Lawrence! On, White and Marcus!
To the top of the stage! To the end of the line!
Now graduate away! Our futures will shine!"
