The restorative justice class is a voluntary program that requires participants to attend a two-hour presentation that focuses on safety in Isla Vista and improving community relations and partnerships. Participants will also be assigned up to 4 hours of community service in Isla Vista. Upon completing the class and community service, your fine of up to $300 will be waived and the citation will NOT go on your permanent record.

You MUST register for the class within 21 days of receiving the citation AND complete BOTH the class and community service within 90 days or your citation will be forwarded to court.

CLASS ELIGIBILITY
In order to be eligible to take the restorative justice class and have your citation dismissed, the following criteria must be met:

• Citation for violation codes 36-2 CO, 36-3 CO, 40-2 CO.
• Citation was issued by the Sheriff’s Department in Isla Vista.
• Offender must not have completed the class before.
• Register for the class within 21 days of receiving the citation.
• Pay the $25 class registration fee in cash or check (waived during the pilot program).

HOW TO REGISTER
If you are eligible to take the restorative justice class, follow the steps below:

1) Register for the class by going to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol Station: 6504 Trigo Road
Hours of Operation
M-F 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
2) Bring your citation, personal identification and $25 cash or check to “Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department”.
• Classes are held at 9 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday of every month or 6 p.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.
• Community service will be coordinated around your school/work schedule.
