Congratulations to Mackenzie Bice!

Our 2023 Pi Day winner – memorizing 1071 digits of pi!

This is a new record, beating Isaiah Kim (class of 2019) who had 1001 digits.

This past weekend, Issaquah Cross Country travelled north to Lakewood HS for the District Championships. Our girls team placed a very close second place with standout performances. Senior Kate Yahn placed 3rd with a PR of 18:02, junior Jane Harig was close behind in 6th, junior Clara Tubbs threw down a 25 second PR and was 12th, sophomore Riley Eberhardt closed hard and finished 19th, senior Julia Ryan, junior Giada Oliva and senior Anna Jensen ran tough for the team to round out our varsity squad. Senior Ben Konopka led the boys team with a very impressive 2nd place finish, followed by sophomore Connor Rickey in 4th, junior Brennen Rickey in 7th, sophomore Elliot McIntosh in 11th, sophomore Alex Yahn with a giant PR finishing 15th, senior Jonathan Liu at 22nd, and sophomore Henry Tait at 24th. With this performance, our boys brought home the first District championship for the program since 2015. All seven of our varsity boys earned individual trips to the podium, an amazing testament to the talent of the team. Both teams head to the WIAA state meet in Pasco this Saturday, November 5th. Both teams have worked extremely hard this season and look to bring home some hardware! On to State! Last weekend at the KingCo Cross Country Meet the Issaquah High Girls Team took home the KingCo Championship, while the Boys Team took home 2nd. 20 XC Athletes will be headed to the State Championship Meet next weekend in Pasco. Go Eagles!

You’re invited to “Kicking M.S. with Claudia,” hosted by the Issaquah High School Eagles varsity girls soccer team tomorrow, Oct. 4 at Issaquah High School. This special event will collect donations for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Claudia Longo, an I.H.S. alum and current University of Washington soccer player, will speak briefly at halftime, and the team will conduct a “Miracle Minute” fundraiser.

Longo was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis during her senior year at I.H.S., and gradated in 2018. She was instrumental in two state championships that the Eagles won in 2015 and 2017.

“Claudia is a remarkable young woman with grace and unstoppable determination,” coach Jason Lichtenberger said. “We are excited to partner with her to raise awareness for this disease and build inspiration within our community to remind young and old, to never give up and always chase your dreams.”

The Eagles will wear orange socks to show their support of Claudia and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Volunteers will sell commemorative T-shirts and bracelets. Donations may be made at the ticket booth upon entry or throughout the game; or virtually and anonymously at https://wa-issaquah-lite.intouchreceipting.com/ [select “Issaquah High School” then “Multiple Sclerosis”].

Longo was an All-American high school soccer player, and was an assistant coach for the Eagles in 2018. Multiple sclerosis currently has no cure. Symptoms vary and may include extreme fatigue, mobility challenges, cognitive changes, vision problems, vertigo and more. Nearly 1 million people in the United States live with M.S. Tomorrow’s JV game is at 5:30 p.m., followed by varsity at 7:30 p.m.; the Eagles will play against Redmond.

Dear Issaquah High Families,

We want to inform you that at about 11:45 a.m. today, Issaquah Police were called to Issaquah High. Police were called out of an abundance of caution, because of a possible safety concern. Police helped us determine that everyone was safe and left before the end of lunch.

We understand that when the police are called stories can sometimes evolve into things they are not. We will always share updates with families via official communications like this one. In situations such as this, we rely on guidance from law enforcement professionals to determine the best course of action.
