Issaquah Light Rail (ST3) — Indefinite Delay or Elimination? Show Up.

Neighbors,

The Issaquah light rail project — approved by voters as part of Sound Transit 3 (ST3) — is now facing the possibility of indefinite delay or even elimination.

We have been paying for this project for years. This wasn’t theoretical. It was voter-approved. It was funded. It was promised.

And now it could simply be delayed indefinitely — or removed altogether.

If that frustrates you, you are not alone.
If that concerns you, this is the moment to act.

Decisions like this are easiest to make when the public is quiet. When rooms are empty. When people assume someone else will show up.

Please don’t assume someone else will.

📅 February 24
🕠 5:30–6:30 PM
📍 City Council Chambers
135 E Sunset Way, Issaquah

Show up. Fill the room. Ask direct questions. Demand straight answers.

Whether you support light rail or oppose it — voter-approved, taxpayer-funded projects should not quietly disappear.

If we care about accountability, about how our tax dollars are used, and about Issaquah’s future transportation planning, we need to be present.

One hour. That’s all it takes to show that our community is paying attention.

See you there.

This year gave me incredible lessons, unforgettable moments, and so many new friends. I’ve grown so much — personally and professionally — and this journey has brought so many meaningful rewards along the way. I’m deeply grateful for every person I had the chance to meet, collaborate with, and learn from. And there is still so much important work ahead. Thank you for being part of this journey ❤️

This past Sunday I’ve had an honor to get the “Woman of Substance” award from the Ampowering foundation. I would like to thank Menka Soni for this award and to applaud her efforts in helping women going through difficult times!

This Wednesday, Issaquah Kiwanis was pleased to present Stacy and Jen, representing the Issaquah Valley Elementary PTA, with a check in support of wrap-around services being provided to students and families in need. Our school PTAs help us fulfill our mission of “changing the world, one child and one community at a time.” Thank you, Issaquah Valley Elementary!!

The ballots for Issaquah City Council Position 6 were counted and the voters have chosen their representative. While the outcome is not what we set out to accomplish, I accept the results with gratitude and humility.

To my mom, my friends, volunteers, donors, neighbors, and endorsers — your time, energy, and faith in this campaign carried us forward. You showed up in rain and sun, at doors and forums, and reminded me every day why public service matters. I am deeply grateful.

I remain committed to the goals that inspired me to run: streamlining permitting for small businesses, advancing balanced housing solutions, improving mobility, and protecting our natural spaces. I will continue working as a commissioner and volunteer for Issaquah.

Finally, thank you to every voter who turned out. Democracy works when people participate — your involvement matters. I’m not stepping away from these issues; I’ll keep listening, volunteering, and showing up for Issaquah. If you’d like to stay involved, please visit my campaign site or reach out.

Friends, this is it - Election Day is tomorrow, and every vote matters!

I’m deeply honored to be endorsed by current and former Issaquah mayors, the King County Democrats, and the 5th Legislative District Democrats, along with small-business leaders, housing advocates, and community voices across our city. That broad support reflects one thing: people from all sides trust me to bring balanced, thoughtful leadership to Issaquah.

As your Planning Policy Commissioner and member of the Climate Action Plan Committee, I’ve helped shape policies on housing, traffic, and sustainability. With my MBA and experience as a small-business owner, I know how to manage budgets responsibly and make city government more efficient and transparent.

This election is about keeping Issaquah livable, affordable, and well-managed. If you haven’t voted yet - please drop your ballot today!

Vote Katia Zakharoff for Issaquah City Council, Position 6 - experienced, balanced, and ready to work.
