Issaquah Community Services

Issaquah Community Services We prevent homelessness in our community. The original budget donated by churches and community members was $3,000, and my, how we've grown!

ICS is an all-volunteer organization that helps neighbors living within the Issaquah School District to stay warm and safe in their homes by providing emergency financial assistance for rent and utility bills. In 1972, local Issaquah community members saw an increasing need to help their neighbors living within the Issaquah School District to stay in their homes by providing emergency financial as

sistance for rent, utility bills and other miscellaneous needs. They founded Issaquah Community Services, an all-volunteer organization dependent largely on donations from local residents. Our 2016 budget was $150,000. Issaquah Community Services operates with volunteers from the community. No staff member is paid, which means 100% of donations go toward helping people in need. Operating expenses, 2% of the total budget, are paid through grants given to ICS; so when you make a donation to Issaquah Community Services, you know it's making a difference in people's lives!

Because of our community, real help reached real neighbors in 2025. 💙

This year, Issaquah Community Services provided over $306,485 in emergency rent and utility assistance to 515 local households—helping families stay housed during moments of financial crisis.

We’re also grateful to share that our recent Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign raised more than $106,000, thanks to the generosity of donors who believe in caring for neighbors close to home.

But the need continues. Job losses and reduced work hours are still affecting many families, and we will rely on additional donations to sustain this level of assistance throughout 2026.

ICS is an all-volunteer organization, so every dollar donated goes directly to helping local families. Thank you for being part of a community that shows up when it matters most.

We’re grateful to share that Issaquah Community Services’ Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign has raised more than $106,000—thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. 💙

A special thank-you to St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church for hosting a beautiful Messiah Singalong Benefit that raised over $7,000 for local families. Those in attendance raved about the outstanding singing and instrumental performances and the joy of coming together for such a meaningful cause.

While this campaign is nearing its close, the need in our community continues—and donations are always welcome. Every gift helps neighbors stay housed and keep essential utilities on during difficult times.

Thank you for standing with your neighbors.

When a Job Loss Leads to the Brink of Homelessness

Jacob, 27 and single, had long been able to support himself—until a sudden job loss turned his world upside down. Struggling to cover basic living expenses like rent and utilities, he found work in a local restaurant, but the hours weren’t enough to make ends meet.

“I’m doing everything I can,” he shared. “I’m applying for second jobs and hoping to hear back soon, but I just couldn’t catch up in time.”

When Jacob received notice that eviction proceedings had begun, he was feeling frantic. He could not afford to lose his housing and to have an eviction on his record. That’s when he turned to Issaquah Community Services for assistance.

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, ICS was able to help Jacob pay his past due and current rent—stopping the eviction process and giving him the breathing room to stabilize his situation.

Your support makes stories like Jacob’s possible. Thank you for being part of a compassionate community that steps up for neighbors in crisis.
