***WATCH HAS BEEN CANCELLED***

SATURDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE: A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued through 10 PM. Hail up to 4 inches in diameter, damaging wind gusts to 80 mph, and a tornado or two are possible in the watch area. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings and be ready to take shelter if a warning is issued for your location.

We are saddened by the passing of ESD #6 Chief Escamilla this morning. Chief Escamilla dedicated his life to the fire service and serving others, Chief had a significant impact on the citizens and departments within Ellis County. He had a vast amount of knowledge from his time serving on both the ESD #6 Fire Department and the Dallas Fire Department. He was one who did not hesitate to share this knowledge and experience and helped build up not only his department but many of the fire departments within the County. He will be greatly missed.

Please keep his family, friends, and members of his department in your thoughts and prayers during this tough time.

If you see someone burning during this time please report it.
If you or someone you know has recently had a controlled burn, please make sure it is completely extinguished as those embers will be blown around.
