Italy Fire & Rescue recently placed into service our new brush truck, Brush 1953. This apparatus supplements our current fleet, enhancing our capabilities and ensuring we have sufficient resources to protect our citizens and, when needed, assist neighboring communities while maintaining coverage at home.

Brush 1953’s primary role is ground fire suppression or in simpler terms putting out grass fires, especially in off-road and limited-access areas, but it is also equipped for a wide range of emergencies. In addition to wildland firefighting equipment, it carries structural firefighting tools and SCBA, vehicle stabilization and extrication equipment, emergency medical equipment, and a complement of rope and rigging gear for specialized rescue scenarios.

This truck allows us to rapidly deploy these resources to scenes that are not accessible by our larger engines, improving our ability to respond quickly and effectively to incidents across our community and region.

We would like to thank you our citizens for their continued support of our department, as well as our ESD board members for working to ensure that we have equipment necessary to serve and protect our community.
