HOME TO HOME
Thackery Binx is an almost 4-year-old black domestic medium hair who has a ton of personality and loves attention!
The Ideal Home
Binx is looking for a strictly dog and cat free home. While he is a sweetheart with his humans, he has developed a severe "scent sensitivity" and territorial aggression toward dogs and cats. He finds the presence of canine or feline friends very stressful and needs a home where he can be the "One and Only" to truly feel safe.
His Personality
• The Explorer: He is a pro on a harness! He loves getting outdoors for walks in a fenced in yard or spaces free of any other cats or dogs. I do stress that if he is outdoors, he should be in a space where he cannot see or sense other cats or dogs as that is a big trigger for him.
• The Best Friend: When he feels secure in his territory, he is very affectionate and loves to lounge on the couch with you as well as playing with his favorite toys.
• Communication Style: He is very expressive. He will let you know exactly how he’s feeling, and he thrives with an owner who can read cat body language.
What He Needs in a New Owner
• No Dogs or cats: This is non-negotiable for his health and safety.
* Special diet: He is on Hills C/D stress multicare canned and dry food. Due to the stress in his current situation he has developed cystitis (inflammation) of his bladder so he should stay on this food.
• Experienced Cat Owner: Someone who understands that he has a "high drive" and needs play and mental stimulation to stay happy.
• Patience: He may need a little time to decompress in a new environment, but once he realizes there are no other animals around, his stress levels will greatly decrease.
Vaccines and Health
Binx is up to date on vaccinations and neutered/microchipped. We love him dearly and this is a heartbreaking decision we don’t make lightly, but we know he will be much happier and more relaxed as an only child.
He grew up with our Labrador Retriever and they got along great until about 2.5 years ago when he got spooked by a different dog through our screen door and since then has been on and off aggressive towards the dog he grew up with. We’ve tried all the medications and behavioral modification tools we have available but unfortunately, Binx has not responded to any of them in the way we hoped.
I cannot stress enough how amazing of a cat he is when our dog isn’t around. He lets me clip his nails by myself, tolerates baths, easy to give medication to and very social. Regardless of how heartbreaking it is, it’s not fair to him to keep him in an environment that he isn’t comfortable in. We’re really hoping to find that special person who will love him and care for him as much as we do because he absolutely deserves it.
