Cornell Republicans

Cornell Republicans Just in the past few years, the Cornell Republicans have hosted Allen West, Ben Carson, Ward Connerly, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Rick Sa****um, and Newt Gingrich.

The Cornell Republicans are a registered student organization of Cornell University, dedicated to the promotion of limited government, individual freedom, and a strong national defense. Cornell Republicans promotes the principles of the Republican Party at Cornell University, in Ithaca, and in New York State through hosting prominent speakers, campaigning for candidates, participating in debates w

ith other campus political organizations, and taking part in conservative conferences. We have also debated the Cornell Democrats on topics such as economic policy and social issues. In order to ingrain ourselves in the national context and to participate in the largest gathering of conservatives in America, we have participated in the Conservative Political Action Conference, where we have met John Thune, Jim DeMint, and Michelle Bachmann, among others, and heard the likes of Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Ron Paul, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld. Today, we look to expand and reach a wider audience to better promote the principles of the Republican Party.

Yesterday, the Cornell administration introduced a host of new restrictions not seen since the beginning of the pandemic. Despite evidence from just last month that its policies resoundingly failed at eliminating cases, the administration has doubled down with a booster mandate, a complicated web of departure and arrival testing rules, and two weeks of inferior virtual education.

In the email sent yesterday, the administration refused to cite any medical advice from public health experts, the CDC, or the Biden administration. Why? Because it does not exist. President Pollack and many of her counterparts in the Ivy League have abandoned any semblance of scientific grounding in their quest for 'Zero Covid,’ dragging students along for the ride.

Brown University demonstrates the path forward: recognizing the benefits of near universal vaccination and continuing all university functions.

If Cornell intends to force intermittent shutdowns in perpetuity for a disease less severe to the vaccinated than the seasonal flu, it is time they come clean; this student body deserves no less.

Yesterday, the Cornell administration took dramatic steps toward ensuring Covid restrictions become a permanent feature of life in the Cornell community. Despite a 99 percent vaccinated student body, no serious cases, and 21 months of masking, the administration has shut down university-sponsored gatherings indefinitely. This is a direct consequence of its decision to mandate weekly testing for the entire community, a measure the CDC’s guidelines advise against. This administration assured the student body it was not pursuing an impossible ‘Zero Covid’ strategy yet its policies point to just that. It is past time President Pollack end the power grab and give students their lives back.

We ask that you take the time to sign this petition calling for Ithaca and Mayor Myrick to stem the rise in off campus violent crime. It is time for our local leaders to stop playing political games with public safety and support our police officers.

With CommunityPetition.com you can create a campaign that will send emails to selected representatives with each signature!

On this day 20 years ago 2,977 people were killed in the deadliest terror attack in history, including 21 Cornellians. Today, members of the Cornell Republicans planted 2,977 flags in the Arts Quad in remembrance of our slain alumni and all those that died on 9/11. While many of our peers were born after 9/11, we know that by planting these flags and honoring the fallen we will never forget.
