Thank you to the creators of the New Icons of Ithaca tribute for recognizing Dammi Herath and the remarkable impact she had on our community.
Dammi believed in the potential of every person who walked through our doors. Through her leadership, compassion, and unwavering commitment to helping women rebuild their lives, she helped shape an organization that continues to serve our community today.
While much has changed since 1993, our mission remains the same.
The Women's Opportunity Center is still here. Still helping women navigate life's challenges. Still providing clothing, food, toiletries, support, life coaching, workforce development, entrepreneurship programs, and opportunities to build a brighter future. Every day, women walk through our doors looking for hope, resources, and a fresh start—and every day, we are honored to be part of their journey.
If you'd like to help continue Dammi's legacy, there are many ways to get involved:
❤️ Donate gently used clothing, shoes, and household essentials
❤️ Contribute toiletries, hygiene products, diapers, and emergency food items
❤️ Volunteer your time and talents
❤️ Make a financial contribution to support programs and services
❤️ Share our mission with others who may need support or want to help
A legacy isn't built by one person alone. It grows through a community that chooses, again and again, to invest in one another.
Thank you, Dammi, for helping create something that continues to change lives decades later. And thank you to everyone who helps ensure that legacy lives on.
Empowering women. Strengthening families. Building community. ✨

Yay for women everywhere! The first female trainer to ever win the Kentucky Derby! One more HUGE step forward for women in what has traditionally been a male dominated sport. We are celebrating with you Cherie!

Abby and Chris from Ithaca College stepped up to support our community—organizing a collection of bras and hygiene supplies for the Women’s Opportunity Center and WOC Cares. Because of them (and everyone who contributed), women in our community will have access to essentials that restore dignity, confidence, and care.

This is what community looks like.
This is what showing up looks like.

We’re so grateful for volunteers who see a need and do something about it.

Want to get involved? There’s always a way. 💫
