📌Memorial Day Closing and Recycling Pickup Schedule

The Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management (TCRMM) office and Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC) will be closed Monday, May 25, and will reopen Tuesday, May 26, during regular hours.

There will be no curbside recycling collection on Monday, May 25. Recycling pickup will occur one day later than usual for the remainder of the holiday week.

Participants of the Fork ‘em Over: Curbside food scraps recycling pilot will follow the normal collection schedule with pickup occurring Wed. May 27 and Thurs. May 28.

🔴 RSWC ➔ Closed
🟡 Curbside Collection ➔ No Collection. A day late the Rest of the Week

International Compost Awareness Week is here! 🌱

This year’s theme, “Feed the Soil That Feeds Us,” reminds us how important composting is for healthy farms and healthy communities.

We’re excited to share our brand‑new On‑Farm Composting video, created from last spring’s workshop with guidance from Jean Bonhotal of the New York Center for Organics Recycling and Education and partially funded by USDA.

📌Presidents Day Schedule Update

The Tompkins County Department of Recycling and Materials Management (TCRMM) Office will be closed Monday, Feb. 16, and will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 17 during regular hours.
The Recycling and Solid Waste Center (RSWC) will remain open on Monday, and curbside recycling collection will follow the normal schedule during the holiday week.

Sunday Drop Spots Canceled Due to Wind Chill Advisory

With a wind chill advisory in effect for Tompkins County, Food Scraps Recycling Drop Spots are canceled for Sunday, Feb. 8. Canceled locations include Cayuga Heights and Cornell Cooperative Extension.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Center is planning to remain open as usual.

Saturday Drop Spots Canceled Due to Wind Chill Advisory

With a wind chill advisory in effect for Tompkins County, Food Scraps Recycling Drop Spots are canceled for Saturday, Feb. 7. Canceled locations include Danby, Dryden, East Hill Plaza, Groton, Lansing, Newfield, the Tompkins County Highway Department on Bostwick Road, and Trumansburg.

The Recycling and Solid Waste Center is planning to remain open as usual.

Tompkins County residents can drop off their holiday trees at the Recycling and Solid Waste Center—no charge!

✅ Remove ALL lights and decorations first—only real, not synthetic, trees are accepted
📍 160 Commercial Ave, Ithaca, NY
📝 Stop at the scale house for your holiday tree coupon
🌲 Head to the Yard Waste area, give the coupon to an attendant, and unload your tree!
🌱Your holiday tree will be chipped and composted along with food scraps and other yard waste at Cayuga Compost
