The Cornell Center for Social Sciences seeks a Writing & Communications Assistant (graduate or undergraduate level) whose primary responsibility is to help develop/polish content for the CCSS website (http://socialsciences.cornell.edu/), social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook), and email campaigns in Constant Contact. You will maintain, update, and design web pages in Drupal. You may also assist with any of the following: market research, analytics, and special projects. Prior experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assisting the Communications Coordinator with drafting and preparing content for our newsletters, social media, website, and CCSS publications.
2. Provide copy and proofreading support to the Communications Coordinator and student staff.
3. Assisting comm team with building web pages, making web edits, improving content flow, correcting broken links, and bug fixing.
4. Helping with information gathering on research initiatives and other projects to improve outreach.
5. Providing research support for various topics, story development, and fact-checking.
6. Collaborate and communicate with the communications coordinator and other student staff to move tasks and projects forward.
7. Supervise other student staff on projects as needed.
8. Search for imagery in University photo well and Adobe Stock Photo.
9. Effectively create and set up Google Docs to work with other staff on website content.

Qualifications and Required Skills:
1. Effective communication – both written and interpersonal
2. Skills in communication and social media content (specifically Twitter)
3. Proficient with Drupal
4. Independent decision-making and problem solving
5. Past experience in marketing, communication, or website building
6. Ability to create and manage timelines

Work Schedule: 8-15 hours per week. We will work around your class schedule. Remote.

FWS Required: No
