Saunderskill Farm in Accord is the oldest continuously operating farm in New York State, with roots dating back to before the American Revolution. It’s more than just a place to buy delicious local produce and fresh cider donuts. It’s part of Upstate New York history.

But like many family farms in the Hudson Valley, Saunderskill got hit hard by April’s frost – and they’re still waiting for relief. I’m calling on the USDA to approve a disaster declaration so that our Upstate apple growers can get the support they deserve.

Seniors and people with disabilities shouldn’t be punished just for trying to save a little money. Right now, out-of-date Washington rules cut off vital SSI benefits if you have more than $2,000 in savings - a cap that hasn't changed since the 1980s. I’m working to fix this nonsense with a bipartisan bill to raise the limit so folks can build a cushion and live with dignity.

Grandpa was raised on a dairy farm, served in the U.S. Army, then spent his career in the IBM factories. He passed his work ethic down to my dad, and my greatest hope is to pass it down to my boys, too.

On June 19th, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas. 161 years later, let’s come together to celebrate freedom and continue the fight to build a more perfect union.

Upstate New Yorkers are already getting crushed by out-of-control utility bills, and now electricity is projected to hit record highs this summer. Meanwhile, the utility monopolies are raking in record profits. It’s BS.

My plan:
🚫 Ban foreign ownership of utilities
🛑 Block CEO bonuses if they raise our rates
🏡 Weatherize homes to lower your bills
⚖️ Take them to court to stop the rate hikes

No one should be punished for working hard and saving up. But right now, outdated SSI rules make it nearly impossible for seniors and folks with disabilities to get a job, build a cushion, and become more independent without losing their safety net. That’s completely backwards.

I’m proud to support the bipartisan SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act to finally bring SSI out of the 1980s and give every American the opportunity to live with dignity and stability.

Growing up in Endicott, I saw firsthand what happens when politicians sell us out and put corporate interests over the needs of working families: plants close down, jobs get shipped overseas, and our communities suffer.

It’s time to fix the corrupt political system that has been rigged against Upstate New Yorkers for far too long. My Drain the Swamp Act is a real plan to clean up Washington and put power back in the hands of the people.

On June 10, Riley, along with Ohio Representative Greg Landsman, introduced the Drain the Swamp Act, citing "blatant corruption at the highest levels of government."
