There are a lot of myths about what hunger and food insecurity looks like in this country. Our society has convinced us that hunger only affects people who are unhoused and/or unwilling to work, when in fact food insecurity impacts more than half of the households in the United States that have at least one adult working full time. And that impact only continues to grow and weigh heavily on more and more of us each day.
Between the spikes in cost of living and the cuts being made to public assistance programs, organizations like ours are more essential now than ever.
This Hunger Action Month we will be highlighting ways that each and every one of us can lend a hand to those who need it most. Volunteer, give now, and help spread the word. “Feed the people! All are welcome!”

Empty Bowls tickets are officially live! *link in bio*
Join us Saturday, October 3rd from 2-6pm at the Loaves & Fishes Dining hall at 210 N. Cayuga St.
As Loaves & Fishes’ signature fundraiser, Empty Bowls is a unique event bringing together potters, restaurants, and community members to support our mission. Each ticket purchase includes your choice of a hand-crafted bowl, two soups, salad, bread, and dessert.

This year, join us for a reception style event! Enjoy a glass of wine or cider and a grazing table while you find your perfect bowl and we pack up your order. We are so grateful for the support from many of our favorite local restaurants, with soups from Cafe Cent Dix, The Rook, Maxie’s Supper Club, and more still to come! We will also have local wine and cider, and music from DJ Mateo. And don’t miss the opportunity to participate in a raffle contest with prizes donated by local businesses like Rasa Spa, Bar Argos, & Firelight Camps!

Our goal is to raise $60,000, with 100% of proceeds directly supporting our meal and advocacy programs which fight hunger and isolation in Tompkins County. Sponsorships, along with ticket sales, make this possible. Hope to see you there!

A heart felt thank you to local artist Jim Lassoie, who is donating all proceeds from his show to Loaves & Fishes of Tompkins County, now hanging at the Grayhaven Motel through the end of August! Loaves board member Alyse C. Mizia was able to attend the opening during GalleryNightIthaca First Friday earlier this month. 💜

During their visit today, we also had them decorate bags, and fill them with toiletries to fill our dignity pantry before guests arrive. 💖💖💖
