Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

This Memorial Day, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office encourages our community to reflect on the freedoms we enjoy because of those who gave everything in defense of our nation. We also extend our gratitude to the families who carry their memories forward each day.

As we gather with loved ones this holiday weekend, may we take a moment to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day and honor the heroes who served with pride and sacrifice.

We remember. We honor. We thank you. 🇺🇸

On Saturday, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of Lt. Edison Dengler from the Pipestone County Sheriff’s Office and Conservation Officer Derek Daniels, held an ATV Operators course at the Fairgrounds in Tyler. 18 riders and their parents arrived to participate, and after a safety briefing and review of regulations, each rider completed a skills course which is required to obtain their ATV safety certificate. This was a great opportunity to educate more of our young people, promoting safe use and operation by ATV riders in our communities. There is a lot of interest in this training and we look forward to doing it again.

In honor of National EMS Week, we want to recognize the awesome individuals that are committed to helping our communities every single day.

Thank you especially to the Hendricks, Ivanhoe, and Tyler Ambulance services, and the Lake Benton First Responders. Your sacrifice and dedication does not go unnoticed.

The Lake Benton Sportsman Club hosted the 4th, 5th & 6th graders for an afternoon of fishing at Lake Benton. LB teaching staff, Sheriff Bushman, Chief Deputy Wahl and Conservation Officer Daniels joined in the fun, baiting hooks, untangling lines and providing fishing tips. Some nice fish were caught and everyone had fun on a beautiful afternoon. Hotdogs were served and the kids took fishing poles with them when they left, compliments of the Sportsman Club. Our hat is off to the LB Sportsman Club for promoting a great lifelong skill to our young people!

On Monday evening, the Hendricks Kiwanis Club sponsored their annual Bike Safety Rodeo for local students. Sheriff Bob Bushman gave the kids a presentation about bike safety and then they each went through a riding skills course, guided by Kiwanis members. Prizes were awarded and then Sheriff Bushman and Deputy Karter DeSmet handed out bike helmets and bike safety booklets.

It was a fun event! We appreciate the efforts by the Kiwanis Club and the Hendricks Community to help keep our young people safe. The school year is almost over and summer is coming fast. Please drive carefully and watch for kids on bikes!
