The library is closed for remodeling. We hope to reopen August 3rd, depending on how the swiftly we can move forward with our project, and as long as we don’t have any hiccups along the way. We all know how construction projects go.

This week has been great. Our local 4-H chapter, Ivanhoe Greenleaf, stepped up to help move our materials, and some furnishings out of the library. I would like to thank the following kids and their parents for helping us: Aubri and Brielle Krog, Kendra, Noah and Ruth Jerzak, Sarah, Jackson, Jaycen and Jacob Citterman, Katie, Nathaniel and Rebecca Clark, Lynn, Ava and Brynn Rost, Andrea Johnson, Tyler and Abigail Lindner, Jackson and Colby Noble, and Hunter Carstensen. Thanks for taking time in this heat to help us with our move. Your a great group!

I would like to give a really big thank you to Jillian Noble for arranging our volunteer help, setting up volunteer times, and working with our youth at the library. Thank you also for bring the pallet jack and the furniture movers. The pallet jack was a life saver in this heat. You also made sure everything ran smoothly. I don’t think I could have done this without you. I would also like to thank Elizabeth Meester for helping with our move. Boxing up books, brainstorming ways to make the move go smoothly, and contacting Jillian, are all very much appreciated. A big thank you to Jillian and Elizabeth.

We have others who deserve a big thank you. They are Peggy Marczak, Kari Eliason and Craig Hansen. Peggy has always been a big help in the library. This week she stepped up to help scan and box up our library materials, a big job. Kari also stepped up to help, by removing shelving from the walls, and boxing up materials. Craig, thanks for arranging and dropping off boxes and shrink wrap. I’m not sure how many boxes you dropped off over the past week, but I’m sure it was 200 or more. A big thank you to Peggy, Kari and Craig, you helped make the move go smoothly.

Keep watching the Ivanhoe Times for updates on our remodeling project. Our volunteer help shows just how much people in our community care about the library. I’m very glad to know that the library means a lot to so many, and that you care enough to help. Thanks again.

The library is looking to borrow a flat bed utility truck, similar to the one pictured. We are also looking for furniture movers to put our shelving on while we remodel. If you have either of these items please drop them off at the library, during library hours. We appreciate your letting us use your items and promise we will take care of them.

We have completed our fundraising, and we are moving forward on our renovation project. Just this past week we received a $10,000 donation from the Carl and Verna Schmidt Foundation to be used towards the renovation. We have also received funds from Royal Township and Ash Lake Township—I would like to thank the residents of both townships for donating to our project. We have also received commitments from Investing In Ivanhoe and the Ivanhoe Community Club, along with the donation from Mark and Heidi Ohlman & Thrivent, and Val and Linn Whipple. Donations have also come in from numerous individual donors in our area, and past residents. The Ivanhoe Public Library Board and I, would like to thank everyone who has donated, not only monetarily, but also in support of our project. The community outpouring of support is overwhelming. Together we have raised close to $30,000—great job Ivanhoe!

We now move on to the next phase of the renovation. Currently we are in the process of boxing up our collection and moving our items out of the library. Our local 4-H Chapter, along with Confirmation Students from Christ The King Area Faith Community are willing to step and help us move our items into storage. Times scheduled are Thursday, July 16th from 1-3 and 5-7, or Friday, July 17th from 10-noon. We could sure use adults helping us with the move, so if you are interested in helping us, please stop in the library.

The library will be closed for approximately two weeks beginning July 20th. We hope to reopen the week of August 3rd. You will need to be patient with us, as it will take time to return all of our collection to our shelves. In the mean time you will still be able to order all of your favorite library items from the Plum Creek Library Online Catalog at www.plumcreeklibrary.org. Once again thanks for your support of the Library. We are looking forward to bring you an improved, and almost new library.

We are moving forward with our expansion project. Boxing up, cleaning out and getting ready. Our local Lincoln County 4-H chapter has volunteered to help us. Scheduled times for boxing and moving are Monday, July 13th, 10-noon, Thursday, July 16th 1-3 & 5-7, Friday, July 17th 10-noon. If you are interested in working along side these great kids, just show up. We are also looking for 2 wheel carts, and furniture movers. If we could borrow yours just drop them off at the library. Thanks for your support of the project. You're a great community who loves their library.

We had a great time a story time yesterday. While it was a small group our participants had a great time. Our theme was ocean animals. We made octopus and sharks to take home. We finished with an ocean animal scavenger hunt. Check out our pictures.

Reminder story time at the library is scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th at 10 am in the community center. Our theme will be sea life. All children ages 1 through 8 are welcome to attend. We will read a story or two, learn a rhyme, and make a craft to take home. Story time is free, with no registration required. Children under 4 must be accompanied by an adult or responsible adult.
