June celebrates a lot of great things and helps kick off the summer season. At Bucks County Emergency Management, we want to take a moment to recognize and bring awareness to several important observances that highlight health, safety, and community pride.

This month we celebrate:
β€’ Pride Month
β€’ National Safety Month
β€’ Community Health Improvement Week
β€’ National CPR and AED Awareness Week

Each of these observances reflects something we care deeply about, from building safer communities to supporting the health and well being of everyone who calls Bucks County home. As June kicks off, it is a good reminder that being prepared and staying safe never takes a vacation, even if the weather tries to convince us otherwise.

Get Ready:

CPR Resources:

We encourage everyone to take a moment to learn more about each of these observances. Whether you are learning CPR, supporting community health initiatives, or celebrating the diversity that makes our county strong, there is something meaningful for everyone this week.

Stay safe, stay informed, and enjoy the start of June, preferably with sunscreen, and maybe a little extra water just in case.

Proud to support our neighbors at Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management with some logistics equipment hauling today! EMA staff are supporting the City of Philadelphia in deployment of Point of Distribution (POD) containers being staged for use during upcoming FIFA and America 250 events.

Bucks County is a contributing member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Task Force which utilizes grant funding to secure vital equipment such as these trucks and PODs to use during pre-planned events and disaster response throughout the region.

Some things we like to add to our kits and remind everyone to include are items to help keep you occupied during extended power outages. Without power for long periods of time, electronics may not be available, so instead of relying on phones, streaming services, TV shows, or movies, consider activities that can help pass the time for both adults and little ones.

We also recommend adding stop bleed powder packets to your first aid kits for quick and convenient use in an emergency. If you have pets, consider including a pet safe stop bleed product that can also be used for animal injuries.

And we cannot stress enough the importance of keeping copies of important documents. Have you ever had to replace a lost birth certificate, car title, or driver’s license? It is rarely a fast or easy process, but having copies available in a moment of need can greatly lessen the stress in certain situations.
