Six Flags Fire Department Proudly serving the Six Flags Great Adventure resort and surrounding areas since 1973. Our department is responsible an approximately 3.4 square mile property.

The Six Flags Fire Department is a paid - professional entity operating underneath the umbrella of the park’s Safety Department. Our team, along with the members of Six Flags Emergency Medical Services, provide emergency response to the Great Adventure Complex similar to any municipality in the State of New Jersey. This includes a large theme park, water park, safari, and hundreds of acres of unde

veloped woodlands. The SFFD is staffed by qualified Firefighters certified through the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety. To better serve our guests and employees, all Firefighters hold valid EMT-Basic certifications with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Medical Services. The department is designated by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office as Station 58. We work closely with surrounding government agencies to insure the safety of our guests and employees. Additionally, when requested, we provide assistance to our local communities through mutual aid agreements with Monmouth and Ocean counties. Our mission is to provide the safest experience for our guests and employees, insuring that Six Flags Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor, and Wild Safari remain the best place to be in New Jersey.

A unique role for our department is the responsibility of safeguarding the heliport here at the resort. This heliport, registered by the FAA, is located in the Hurricane Harbor parking lot and designated for VIP transports throughout the season.

However, in cooperation with our surrounding partner agencies, the landing zone is used for emergency medical transports when the need arises.

The Six Flags Fire Department is proud to provide assistance to neighboring agencies when called upon.

Due to the nature of our unique first due, our firefighters regularly train on operating the apparatus in tight spaces. The department utilizes every inch of the property to help us prepare for a wide multitude of emergencies.

During Memorial Day weekend, day shift firefighters participated in Confined Space Operations training.

A confined space is an enclosed or partially enclosed work area that is large enough for a person to enter but is not designed for continuous human occupancy and has restricted means of egress.

The department regularly trains in this field as we continue to support the resort’s maintenance and operations teams.
