Madison County Launches New Mass Notification System

The Jackson-Madison County Emergency Management Agency is launching a new mass notification system to enhance public safety and awareness throughout Madison County.

Madison County has partnered with Regroup to provide residents with timely, reliable, real-time notifications about severe weather, road closures, emergencies, and important community alerts.

The system will deliver critical information directly to residents, helping families, businesses, and community members make informed decisions and take appropriate protective actions.

Jason Moore, Director of the Jackson-Madison County Emergency Management Agency, stated:

“We are committed to keeping our community safe and informed. This system gives us the tools to share critical information instantly, so residents can take the appropriate steps to protect themselves and their loved ones. We encourage everyone to register today to stay prepared and connected.”

Update: He has been found!

MISSING PERSON ALERT

At approximately 12:00 PM today, Madison County Fire Department was dispatched along with the Madison County Sheriff's Office Tennessee for a missing person in the 1300 block of Denmark Jackson Road.

We are currently searching for an 85-year-old Black male who is approximately 5’11” tall. He has a gray beard and may be using a walking cane.

Last known clothing:

* Blue jeans (rolled up)
* Black or gray ball cap
* Black sneakers
* Shirt color unknown at this time

We are asking residents in the area to please check your home security cameras, trail/deer cameras, and surrounding property for anyone matching this description.

If you see someone matching this description or have any information that may assist in locating him, please call 911 immediately.

🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY – I-40 WESTBOUND AT EXIT 79 🚨

Madison County Fire Department crews, along with the Jackson-Madison County Emergency Management Agency and other emergency response agencies, are currently on the scene of a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 40 westbound at Exit 79.

This is expected to be an extended incident, and traffic has been reduced to one lane. Motorists should expect significant delays while crews work to safely manage the scene.

Please slow down, use caution when approaching the area, and remain alert for emergency personnel and equipment operating on the roadway. If possible, consider using an alternate route until the incident has been cleared.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as responders work to safely resolve this incident.

This is a great example of why partnerships matter.

Effective emergency response begins long before an incident occurs. Through planning, training, and collaboration between local industries and emergency responders, we can better protect employees, responders, and our community.

As part of the Madison County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), we encourage facilities and response agencies to work together to identify hazards, develop emergency plans, and train for potential incidents before they happen. These relationships strengthen preparedness and help ensure a safer, more coordinated response when emergencies occur.

We appreciate organizations that invest in preparedness and actively engage with their local response partners.

⚠️ Temporary Tornado Siren Outage Notice ⚠️

The Jackson-Madison County Emergency Management Agency would like to inform residents that due to ongoing construction at the University School of Jackson, the tornado warning siren serving that area is currently out of service.

This outage is expected to last approximately two weeks while work is completed and the system is restored. We are actively working to return the siren to full operation as soon as possible and will notify the public once it is back in service.

🚨 Important Reminder:
Outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert those who are outside. During this outage, residents in the affected area should ensure they have multiple reliable ways to receive severe weather alerts, including:
• NOAA Weather Radios
• Local television and radio stations
• Trusted weather apps and mobile alerts

Being prepared and staying informed is critical, especially during severe weather season.
