Breathitt County is proud to announce the award of an $8,834 grant for the purchase of five new picnic tables and five new benches for the Elkview Campgrounds!

These durable furnishings are made from tire crumb rubber and other tire-derived materials, helping improve our recreational spaces while supporting environmentally friendly recycling efforts.

The Breathitt County Fiscal Court announced the award, which was secured through the efforts of Judge Executive Jeff Noble and the Solid Waste Coordinator in partnership with the Kentucky Waste Tire Crumb Rubber/Tire-Derived Products program, with support letters from Magistrates John Marshall, Drewey Lovins, Ryan Chaney, and Brenda Terry.

This project is another great example of working together to invest in our community, enhance our campgrounds, and promote sustainable practices across Breathitt County.

Spring County Clean-up will be held at the debris lot next to Walmart on the following dates:

📅 Thursday, May 21st | 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
📅 Friday, May 22nd | 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
📅 Saturday, May 23rd | 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Please note: No tires, batteries, cylinders, paint, or other hazardous materials will be accepted.

The Breathitt County Fiscal Court is pleased to announce approval of a $171,824.67 recycling grant to support and expand the county’s recycling program. The grant will fund a paper shredder baler, a new skid steer, and additional recycling containers to be placed throughout the county for public use. Executive Judge Jeff Noble, all magistrates, and the solid waste coordinator worked with vendors and the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s Division of Waste Management to secure the grant and appreciate its approval.

Morris Fork Road will be temporarily closed today, April 30, and tomorrow, May 1, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. for road repairs. Emergency vehicles and school busses will be accommodated.

In honor of Deanna Noble, daughter of Judge Executive Jeff Noble, the Breathitt County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, April 27, 2026.
