Your use of our social media sites indicates acceptance of our policies governing the use of these sites. We moderate all responses to social media postings and will remove any responses that are offensive or abusive, as well as any statements made that are untruthful, misleading or have no basis in fact. We add
itionally reserve the right to remove comments that are off-topic or which attempt to appropriate a social media post for purposes of making statements not relevant to the topic. This particularly applies to public warning messages of potential danger such as severe weather, dangerous fires, accidents and related. Depending on the severity of the offense, a user may have privileges revoked or be banned from further use of the social media site or sites. The official Butts County Georgia page is used to post notices regarding County events, office closings for holidays, news releases and emergency weather information. Because Facebook utilizes internal systems that selectively display posts to a portion of a page’s subscribers, there is always the possibility that some subscribers will not see all posts to the County page. It should be understood that users should not rely solely on Facebook to receive critical information. Interested users should manually go to the page when they want to see if updates have been posted or make sure their settings will allow for them to see as much page content as possible displayed on their timeline. The County does not allow followers to create posts to the County page. Followers may comment on posts but these posts will not be publicly displayed unless cleared by one of the account moderators. Comments may still be visible to friends of the person posting. Comments that are based on rumor, speculation or which otherwise have no basis in fact may be permanently held in moderation or removed from the page. Comments which attack individuals or which make libelous comments will result in deletion and being banned from further use of the page. Comments which are not related to the topic at hand or which attempt to diminish the effect of emergency messages posted to inform the public of an ongoing situation will be removed. Repeated violations will result in being banned from the page. This is to protect the integrity of the page as well as to protect subscribers from potential exposure to objectionable material, potentially infected links or furthering the spread of misinformation. Additionally, some County departments have their own individual pages. These pages may provide more specific information related to events and activities within their departments.
