On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Captain W. Phelps responded to a residence in Seaboard, NC regarding a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The motor vehicle that was reported stolen was a silver in color 2019 Nissan Altima. It was further reported that the stolen motor vehicle went toward Garysburg, NC.

Lieutenant M. Walton with Garysburg Police Department saw the stolen motor vehicle at the intersection of NC Highway 186 and US Highway 301 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The motor vehicle failed to stop and a motor vehicle chase ensued. Deputy D. Williams was also involved in the motor vehicle chase. Less than one (1) mile crossing into Virginia, the stolen motor vehicle wrecked. The driver of the stolen motor vehicle then fled on foot. Lt. M. Walton and Deputy D. Williams captured the suspect.

Deputies with Greensville County Sheriff's Office in Virginia responded and the suspect was turned over to Virginia Authorities.

The suspect was identified as a juvenile. Juvenile petitions were obtained in this by Northampton County Sheriff's Office and Greensville County Sheriff's Office.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith commended all the law enforcement officers for being vigilant, locating the vehicle quickly, and assisting in bringing justice to the victim.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Deputy J. Johnson arrested twenty-eight-year-old, Taranisha Williams, of Rich Square, NC for an outstanding warrant for arrest.

Taranisha Williams was served on one (1) count Misdemeanor Communicating Threats. Williams did not receive a bond due to the pre-trial integrity act. She was provided a scheduled court date of June 11, 2026, in Northampton County.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Thursday, June 4, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Deputy J. Johnson arrested forty-two-year-old, Sharonda Latasha Ebony Davis, of Rich Square, NC for an outstanding warrant for arrest.

Sharonda Davis was served on one (1) count Misdemeanor Communicating Threats and one (1) count Misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun. Davis received a secured bond in the amount of $1,500.00 and a scheduled court date of July 16, 2026, in Northampton County.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Officer B. C. Hentz with Raleigh Police Department arrested twenty-nine-year-old, Melquan Tyreque Ransom, of Garysburg, NC on an outstanding warrant for arrest.

Melquan Tyreque Ransom was served on one (1) count Felony Fail Report New Address - S*x Offender. He did not receive a bond and was provided a previously scheduled court date of June 4, 2026.

This warrant was a result of an investigation conducted by Northampton County Sheriff's Office Major P. Jacobs. Major P. Jacobs obtained the warrant on May 18, 2026.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith commended Major P. Jacobs for his efforts in this case. He also stated that he thanked Raleigh Police Department for assisting our agency. Northampton County Sheriff's Office will continue to work with our partner agencies to reach our common goals.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Sergeant A. Burgess, Lieutenant W. Whitley, and Captain C. Boden responded to a residence in Henrico, NC regarding a domestic assault.

Through the investigation, fifty-three-year-old, Stacy Edward Watlington, of Henrico, NC was identified as the accused party. The victim provided video of the incident to law enforcement. When law enforcement watched the video, it showed Watlington strike the victim on the left side of her face and push her to the ground.

Sergeant A. Burgess charged and served Watlington with one (1) count Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, and one (1) count Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence. Watlington did not receive a bond due to the 48-hour domestic violence hold. He was provided a previously scheduled court date of June 4, 2026, in Northampton County.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith commended Sergeant A. Burgess for her efforts with this case.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Sergeant A. Johnson and Sergeant A. Burgess arrested thirty-seven-year-old, Calvin Hockaday, of Garysburg, NC for a Fugitive Warrant out of Portsmouth, Virginia.

Calvin Hockaday was taken into custody without incident. He did not receive a bond due to the fugitive hold. He received a previously scheduled court date of June 4, 2026, in Northampton County.

The original charge was one (1) count unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The offense date was February 20, 2026.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Sunday, May 31, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Sergeant R. Giglio responded to a residence in Severn, NC regarding a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The motor vehicle that was reported stolen was a gray in color 2018 Ford Explorer.

Later on in the day, NC State Highway Patrol Trooper Wheeler and Trooper Cabos attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the stolen motor vehicle in Gaston, NC. A motor vehicle chase ensued. When the motor vehicle came to a stop, the driver lead the troopers on a brief foot chase before being caught.

Sergeant A. Burgess and Lieutenant M. Deloatch assisted in the incident.

The suspect was identified as a juvenile. Juvenile petitions were obtained in the case.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith commended all the law enforcement officers for being vigilant, locating the vehicle quickly, and assisting in bringing justice to the victim.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On Friday, May 29, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Deputy D. Williams arrested twenty-one-year-old, Steven Craig Gary Jr., of Roanoke Rapids, NC on an outstanding warrant for arrest. During the arrest, Gary Jr. was showing signs of impairment. Prior to the arrest, law enforcement witnessed Gary Jr. operating a motor vehicle. NC State Highway Patrol was requested to assist.

Deputy D. Williams served Steven Craig Gary Jr., on the outstanding warrant for arrest to include one (1) count Felony Discharge Weapon into Occupied Property. Gary Jr. did not receive a bond due to the pre-trial integrity act. He was provided a scheduled court date of June 11, 2026, in Northampton County.

This warrant was obtained by Chief M. Goffington with Garysburg Police Department and it was issued on May 28, 2026.

Trooper Z. Perry with NC State Highway Patrol charged and served Steven Craig Gary Jr., on one (1) count Misdemeanor Driving While Impaired. Gary Jr. did not receive a bond due to the pre-trial integrity act. He was provided a scheduled court date of July 16, 2026, in Northampton County.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith thanked NC State Highway Patrol for their assistance in this incident. Northampton County Sheriff's Office will continue to work with other law enforcement agency to reach our common goals.

On Saturday, May 30, 2026, Northampton County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Detective W. Killian arrested thirty-nine-year-old, Christine Darlene Casey, of Roanoke Rapids, NC on an outstanding warrant for arrest out of Halifax County.

Christina Darlene Casey was served on the warrant for arrest to include one (1) count Misdmeanor Simple Assault. Christina Casey did not receive a bond due to a 48-hour domestic violence hold. Casey was given a scheduled court date of June 9, 2026, in Halifax County.

The warrant was issued on May 20, 2026, out of Halifax County.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
