Update: Johnny Dixon-25, was arrested and charged with murder stemming from last night’s fatal shooting on Pinehaven Dr. near Kickapoo Rd. The victim, only identified as a 37 year old black male, was fatally shot during an alleged altercation between he and the suspect inside of a vehicle. The investigation is ongoing, and pending notification of the next of kin, the victim’s identity will be released.

Homicide investigation: HCSO is on scene investigating a fatal shooting at Pinehaven Dr. near Kickapoo Rd. Male occupant fatally shot in a vehicle. Another male occupant is in custody as the alleged shooter. Identities not released at that time. Investigation is ongoing.

aka “Shantercia Donelson is in custody. She was captured moments ago by HCSO Deputies in a vehicle in the Woodlands Apartments. She faces additional escape charges. Thanks to all law enforcement agencies for the quick responses and bringing resources to assist with the search.

aka “Shantercia Donelson” in the area of Hwy 18 and TV Rd. LSW wearing brown jumpsuit in the area of The Woodlands Apartments. She escaped a HCSO vehicle while being transported to the jail.

Hinds County and Utica Police responded to sightings of at least two black bears in the Utica area this afternoon. Pictured is one of the bears that was sighted.

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is aware of the recent uptick in black bear sightings across parts of the county. Residents are urged to stay alert, secure food sources around homes, keep pets close, and avoid approaching or attempting to feed wildlife. Report sightings to local authorities so we can help keep both the community and the animals safe.
