🎃 100 days until Halloween…

And in about 45 days, Bethany’s will start settling into her favorite season.

A few vintage decorations will come out. The old house will get a little moodier. The evenings will get a little darker. And before long, guests will once again be gathering to share history, mystery, and a few stories that still can’t be explained.

Some places decorate for Halloween.

At Bethany’s… Halloween just feels like coming home. 👻

👻 HAUNTED SPOTLIGHT:
Calaveras County Museum

Just about 30 minutes from Jackson, you’ll find one of Gold Country’s most underrated haunted locations: the Calaveras County Museum in San Andreas.

Housed inside the original 1867 courthouse, jail, and Hall of Records, the museum is packed with Gold Rush history, fascinating artifacts… and, according to staff and countless visitors, more than a few lingering spirits. The museum complex includes the old courthouse, historic jail cells, and Hall of Records, all connected into one unforgettable experience.

For just $5 admission, you can wander the historic halls, step inside the original jail cells, and even see the blood-spattered ledger books preserved in the judge’s chambers. If you’re interested in the paranormal, the staff is refreshingly open about the building’s haunted reputation and the experiences they’ve had over the years.

Want to investigate after hours? They also offer private paranormal investigations by arrangement. Otherwise, the museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with select Fridays offering extended evening hours—so it’s always a good idea to check their website before you go. Have you had any experiences there?

I’m always happy to give references to anyone wanting to have a creepy trip!

For one night only, we're opening the doors after dark to one of Calaveras County's most historic buildings.

Long before it became a museum, these walls served as a Gold Rush-era courthouse and jail. Thousands of people walked these halls—miners, outlaws, lawmen, judges, and ordinary citizens whose stories helped shape California.

Now it's your turn to experience it after hours.

Join the Calascareus Horror Film Festival team as we explore the history, investigate the unexplained, and see what might still linger within these historic walls.

👻 Whether you're a skeptic, believer, or history lover, this is your last chance to join us.

Last night, I had the privilege to hanging out with some amazing friends to attend a book signing for Amy Bruni’s newest cookbook, Cuisine to Kill For. It is beautiful like her last cook book, and you can find them both in the kitchen in case you want to make Lizzie Borden’s meatloaf or a tasty scrod while you come to stay.
