The current US administration negotiated $60 million dollars in recognition of the strong partnership between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, allowing the USA’s participation in the upcoming World Expo Dubai. Expos, also known in the United States as World’s Fairs, are significant opportunities to showcase American freedom, ideals, enterprise, culture, and global leadership.
Rebecca Bextel of Global Ties Wyoming, working in partnership with the US Department of State and Global Ties US, has been tasked with highlighting this opportunity and nominating Youth Ambassadors and Cultural Performers for the World Expo Dubai from October 2021- March 2022.
Youth Ambassadors (U.S. citizens ages 18-29) serve as guides and cultural ambassadors at the U.S. Pavilion. These energetic, friendly individuals will serve as the Faces of the United States to millions of Expo visitors.
Cultural Performers – including representatives from dance, music, theater, literature, art, food, sports, spoken word, and more – will be selected to represent their region as ambassadors of U.S. culture. Through their service, these performers will provide a program at the U.S. Pavilion that embodies the geographic and cultural richness of the United States and its territories, tell the story of the United States, and engage Expo visitors through scheduled and informal engagements. Performances will vary in size from speakers and solo artists to larger groups of up to 30 performers.
All expenses will be covered, and time commitments range from one week for Cultural Performers, to four to seven months for Youth Ambassadors.
