Global Ties WY

Global Ties WY A vibrant democracy requires our participation! We can be citizen diplomats and help shape U.S. foreign relations one person at a time. You can help!

WCIV offers education and experience on world issues to all ages in Teton County. We create meaningful encounters with global figures through person-to-person discussions, community forums, business consultations, and school visits. In a racially and ethnically homogeneous state, we make enhanced global awareness and intercultural appreciation possible. The international visitors (IVs) are not typ

ical tourists, but are traveling as guests of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. They are on an educational and professional excursion in the U.S., and Jackson is a stop on their 3-week journey to the U.S. These programs foster improved mutual understanding and cooperation between our students, the community, local professional expertise, and the leadership of countries around the globe.

The current US administration negotiated $60 million dollars in recognition of the strong partnership between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, allowing the USA’s participation in the upcoming World Expo Dubai. Expos, also known in the United States as World’s Fairs, are significant opportunities to showcase American freedom, ideals, enterprise, culture, and global leadership.

Rebecca Bextel of Global Ties Wyoming, working in partnership with the US Department of State and Global Ties US, has been tasked with highlighting this opportunity and nominating Youth Ambassadors and Cultural Performers for the World Expo Dubai from October 2021- March 2022.

Youth Ambassadors (U.S. citizens ages 18-29) serve as guides and cultural ambassadors at the U.S. Pavilion. These energetic, friendly individuals will serve as the Faces of the United States to millions of Expo visitors.

Cultural Performers – including representatives from dance, music, theater, literature, art, food, sports, spoken word, and more – will be selected to represent their region as ambassadors of U.S. culture. Through their service, these performers will provide a program at the U.S. Pavilion that embodies the geographic and cultural richness of the United States and its territories, tell the story of the United States, and engage Expo visitors through scheduled and informal engagements. Performances will vary in size from speakers and solo artists to larger groups of up to 30 performers.

All expenses will be covered, and time commitments range from one week for Cultural Performers, to four to seven months for Youth Ambassadors.

For more information, please email Rebecca Bextel at [email protected].
