JPS SCHOOL STATUS UPDATE - JAN. 23, 2024: We appreciate the patience of our students, families, and staff as we deal with the fluctuating weather conditions, along with water and HVAC challenges. Despite a few challenges, we experienced a great day of learning. While we saw a few improvements at some sites, many of our school sites are still without adequate water pressure.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the 60s tomorrow. With the temperature variations throughout the day, we kindly request that parents send their children to school with layered clothing. Layering allows students to adapt to the varying temperatures both indoors and outdoors. Please consider including a light jacket or sweater that can be easily put on or taken off based on the conditions.
On Tuesday, January 23, some schools will be relocated while others will transition to virtual learning. All other schools in the District will resume in-person learning. All elementary schools will report in-person tomorrow; however, some will be relocated. All high schools will report in-person with the exception of Jim Hill.
Schools to be Relocated on January 23:
• Marshall Elementary to Walton Elementary
• Johnson/Pecan Elementary to Galloway Elementary
• Lester Elementary to Lake Elementary
• Shirley Elementary to Dawson Elementary
• Sykes Elementary to Smith Elementary
• Key Elementary to North Jackson Elementary

Additionally, all scholars will be bused from their home school to relocated school sites, where teachers will provide quality instruction.
