Jackson firefighters were dispatched to a house fire today in the Flair development off Brewers Bridge Road. Responders from Stations 54 (Jackson Mills) 55 (Jackson No 1) 57 (Fire District 2) and Howell 19-3 (Southard) responded.

Upon the arrival of Deputy Chief Moore, the call was upgraded to a working fire. Additional companies were dispatched which included Station 56 (Cassville), Lakewood Ladder 5 and Joint Base Station 5.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported. The fire was investigated by Jackson Fire District 2 and the Ocean County Fire Marshal Office.

On April 13, 2026 the Board of Fire Commissioners held a Recognition Ceremony for events held in 2025.

Members were recognized for years of service.

Several calls were recognized as Honorable Mentions.

Certificates were presented to the following personnel for their actions at an emergency scene.

Awards were presented by Deputy Chief Moore and Fire Commissioner Hruschka.

Jackson Station 55 was dispatched to an outdoor smoke investigation yesterday in the Brookwood 4 development. Ocean County Sheriff 911 began receiving additional calls for smoke and flames which lead to the call being upgraded to assign Station 54 - Jackson Mills and Station 57 - District 2 to the assignment.
Upon arrival, crews found a fire in the back of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and the home was checked for any extension. Fans were used to remove any smoke that was in the home.
The fire is under investigation by Jackson Bureau of Fire Safety District 3
