Happy Friday, Cape County!

Friday Night Lights are back across Southeast Missouri, and we hear there may be a few football games happening tonight!

Whether you’re headed to the stadium, out for the evening, or staying close to home, be safe, be courteous, and remember to keep your vehicles and belongings secure and locked.

K9 Maverick wishes all of our local teams good luck tonight. Have a great Friday night, Cape County!

Training is an essential part of the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office’s continued commitment to providing the best possible service to the community we serve.

Pictured are members of our Jail Division participating in training on two-on-one control techniques. This hands-on training helps staff safely and effectively manage situations that may require physical intervention while reducing the risk of injury to everyone involved.

Apparently, the first-day checklist at Nell Holcomb School included a playground inspection.

Monkey bars checked. Gravity confirmed. Swings operational.

SRO Sgt. Heather VanGennip marked the first day of school yesterday alongside new Superintendent Dr. Sonia Wood and Principal Mike Wortmann.

The photos may be lighthearted, but they also reflect something important: the relationships our School Resource Officers build with students and staff in the everyday moments that help make a school feel like a community.

School is officially back in full swing. We wish Nell Holcomb’s students and staff a safe, successful and enjoyable school year.

For those who choose not to, our deputies will continue working to ensure outstanding warrants are served, and individuals are held accountable through the judicial process.
