A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is a volunteer, mentor & role model who works with children

The Amador Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program is part of a national program that recruits and trains volunteers to become advocates for children who are in custody of the courts in Amador County. Advocates are a special kind of mentor and role model that helps the child navigate the complexities of the court. The CASA also helps the court find information about the child in order to

make decisions in the child's best interest. Amador CASA is a program of Nexus Youth and Family Services.

We provide the training—you provide the heart. With about 10 hours each month, you can make a lasting impact and help change a child's story.

CASA volunteers are everyday people who make an extraordinary difference in the lives of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), you'll be a consistent, caring presence and help ensure a child's voice is heard.

Our next volunteer training is coming up, and we are looking for compassionate community members ready to make a difference.

Join us and become a CASA volunteer today.

Juneteenth is Freedom Day, marking the exact day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were freed.

At California CASA, we pause on this day to reflect on our country’s history of anti-Blackness and the disenfranchisement of Black communities.

We invite you to join us in transforming the foster care and juvenile justice systems that serve a disproportionate number of Black youth.

During Immigrant Heritage Month, we remain committed to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive advocacy so every child can thrive.

Our CASA volunteers are trained to center each child’s lived experience, including their culture and language. At the systemic level, we train local programs on how to respond to immigration-related issues and advocate for bills that support our immigrant families in accessing the services and supports they need.

LGBTQ+ youth are significantly overrepresented in California’s foster care
system. It's more important than ever that we create affirming, inclusive environments where LGBTQ+ youth feel safe and loved exactly as they are.
