🚴‍♂️ New Village of Jackson E-Bike Ordinance Now in Effect 🚴‍♀️

As e-bikes continue to grow in popularity, the Village of Jackson has adopted a new ordinance to help improve safety for residents, visitors, pedestrians, and motorists. The ordinance was developed in response to safety concerns, traffic complaints, and accidents involving e-bikes within the community.

Key reminders for e-bike riders and parents:

✅ E-bikes must follow all traffic laws, including stopping at stop signs and red lights.

✅ E-bike riders must obey posted speed limits.

✅ There are 3 classes of e-bikes:
• Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes may be operated on sidewalks and designated paths unless otherwise restricted.
• Class 3 e-bikes may NOT be operated on sidewalks.
• Riders must be at least 16 years old to operate a Class 3 e-bike.

✅ When riding on a sidewalk:
• Yield to pedestrians at all times.
• Slow to pedestrian speed when approaching or passing others.
• Use an audible signal such as a bell, horn, or verbal warning before passing.

✅ Operating an e-bike while impaired is prohibited.

✅ Parents may be cited if they knowingly allow their children to violate the ordinance and may be held responsible for damages caused by illegal operation.

‼️Most e-bikes display a manufacturer label identifying their class. Riders should know what class of e-bike they are operating and understand the rules that apply to it.

Our goal is education and safety. Please take a few minutes to discuss these rules with your children and family members. Wearing a helmet, following traffic laws, and respecting pedestrians can help prevent serious injuries and keep everyone safe.

Words can't even express our gratitude for the overwhelming show of community support at last night's fundraiser for Lt. Foeger and his dad. Thanks to your generosity, we raised more than $20,000 to support the Foeger family!

Thanks to our first responder partners at Wisconsin State Patrol, Washington County, Wisconsin Sheriff's Office, Cedarburg Police Department, Newburg, Wisconsin Police Department, Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, Village of Grafton Police Department, Cedarburg Fire Department, and Jackson Fire Department as well as all the volunteers and staff with Jackson Parks & Recreation Department.

Finally, a massive thank you to Brian Emmrich and Tommy Kraus for their outstanding event planning, coordination, and volunteer efforts.

𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐖𝐈 𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞, 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭⁣

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers were notified of a small electric vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 60, creating a traffic hazard.⁣

Officers made contact with the operator, a 48-year-old Jackson man, who admitted to consuming alcohol approximately two hours prior to the incident. During the investigation, officers determined the man was out on bond in three misdemeanor cases and was subject to a condition requiring absolute sobriety.⁣

Based on the investigation, officers arrested the man for OWI 5th Offense and three counts of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Charges have been referred to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐊𝟗⁣

On August 21, 2026 at approximately 2:28p.m. Jackson officers were dispatched to a theft of medical equipment from a business near Tillie Lake Rd. The suspect took multiple boxes of medical equipment that had been delivered to the business and fled on foot into the marsh west of the roadway. Officers responded to the area and located the male, who fled further into the marsh. Officers set up a perimeter and drone and K9 resources were requested to the scene. ⁣

A K9 track was started. During the track, the drone operator located the suspect and guided the search team to him. The suspect continued to disobey commands and was non-compliant. Hartford PD K9 Flash apprehended the suspect and officers took him into custody. The suspect continued to resist after being taken into custody and was non-cooperative as officers worked to exit the marsh. ⁣

The suspect, identified as a 21-year-old Milwaukee man, was transported to the Washington County Jail on charges of Misdemeanor Theft and 2 counts of Obstructing/Resisting an Officer.⁣
