Work underway! Crews are on site constructing the concrete bridge approach slabs. These slabs will be constructed one half at a time in order for the road to remain open to traffic. Traffic will be reduced to one lane traffic until this construction phase is complete. Motorist should be prepared for minor delays and please obey all posted traffic control signs.

This past week construction crews began onstructing the bike path. The pathway’s sub grade is roughed in. Paving will take place closer to the end of the project so the pathway bridge will remain closed. Throughout the rest of this week the construction crews will be focusing on installing telephone conduit which is within the roadway. Motorist should expect one way traffic and minor delays. Motorist patience is appreciated.

Next week construction of the concrete approach slabs for the roadway bridge will begin. Motorist should expect one way traffic 24 hours a day until this phase of construction is completed. Please obey all traffic control devices.

A quick update on the project-
While the weather has been beautiful and some may wonder why work is not currently underway on the bridge. We are in contact with the contractor who planned their spring work schedule several months ago, before they could have anticipated the current favorable weather conditions. The contractor will return from projects in other areas of the state and be back on-site starting April 30th. They will remain on the project until its completion. It is our intent to hold the contractor to the contract, which states the project is to be completed no later than July 18, 2012. If the Contractor fails to meet this deadline, he is subject to liquidated damages of $1,000 per day. The Pathway bridge will remain closed until the project is completed.

Once construction resumes, weekly project updates will be posted to this page.
