Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust At the Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust, we do more than develop essential and affordable housing

As a private, not-for-profit housing developer since 1991, the goal of the Jackson Hole Community Housing Trust has been to make room in our community by building affordable housing for those who contribute to our way of life. To date, we’ve built 183 homes in nine neighborhoods, serving more than 651 people with exciting plans for the future. The consensus is clear: we need to build for *households,* not just individuals.

Survey respondents want to own homes here, and they want homes they can build lives in. Working households need more than a studio or a one-bedroom if they are to stay here long-term. They need room for children, aging parents, partners and pets.

This is the kind of housing we plan to build in Northern South Park: the kind that lets people stick around. And we can still strive for more.

We heard from 358 people who want to stick around. What you shared with us will help us build the kind of housing that could make that possible.

To everyone who offered their time and insight for this survey: thank you. The results are more profound and insightful than we even imagined.

This spring, we asked the community for input on housing in Jackson. 358 of you told us, clearly: housing is a means to stability. It creates permanence, and permanence creates community.

We talked to KHOL about the survey results last week and have published a brief summary of them on our website (link in bio!). But we want to unveil the results in more detail over the coming weeks, and tell you what we think they mean.

We've learned so much from you, and we're so excited to share more survey results over the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

In just one year of homeownership, Hansen Corner residents have gotten engaged, had babies (two, by our count!), and found new ways to give back to their community. This is what happens when housing is stable: life has room to grow.

Before ➡️ After

King Street was our first condominium project. Thanks to generous philanthropy and support from the Jackson Town Council, 41 households now own a home in downtown Jackson. King Street residents have served Teton County for 14 years on average, and have cumulatively given over 10,000 volunteer hours to their community.

Hello, summer. ☀️

Summer officially arrived this weekend — and with it, for many, a reminder of why we live here. Also a reminder that paradise comes at a cost.

Despite being the ones who make this paradise function — who maintain its roads, who keep us safe and healthy — locals are often asked to sacrifice basic essentials, including stable housing, just to live here.

If we really love this place, we have to take care of its workforce. Our mission is to conserve the community by building the affordable housing it deserves.

We did something different at Hansen Corner: these homes were built (mostly) off-site.

Modular homes aren't what they used to be. These high-quality duplexes were custom-designed by local architects, but built in a factory. Advances in modular construction allowed us to build 20 affordable homes in 53 weeks. These units now house police officers, educators, nurses and other essential workers — people who have served Teton County for 16 years on average.

Huge thanks to our partners on this project: New West Building Company, Northworks Architects, Northstar Systembuilt and Bank of Jackson Hole. It takes a village.

It's gearing up to be a particularly intense wildfire season.

The Spread Creek Fire is an early reminder of the people who step up when it matters most. Our brave public servants deserve to live in the communities they protect, but 76% of them cannot afford to live in Teton County.

If our firefighters can't afford to live here, we're all in trouble.

This is what we're fighting for: affordable housing for those who provide our most vital services. Affordable housing benefits us all.

Our Redmond Street rental homes will be affordable, forever. Public-private partnerships between the Housing Trust, the Town and the County — plus generous donors who made up the subsidy — ensure these units will always rent well below market value. They're priced according to local wages, not a speculative rental market. So they will meet the housing needs of today's renters, and generations of renters to come.
