The C-17 Globemaster III is the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. The aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can also transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuati

ons when required. The inherent flexibility and performance of the C-17 force improve the ability of the total airlift system to fulfill the worldwide air mobility requirements of the United States.

Representing the top 1% of the United States Air Force enlisted force, the Chief Master Sergeant is one who must be willing to carry an organization upon their shoulders and be ready to serve at a moment's notice; in and out of uniform.

Chief Master Sgt. Scott Burris fills that role for the 183rd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron as a steady-handed, bona fide expert in the career field.

Chief, we congratulate you on your promotion and we salute you for your continued devotion to our Airmen and our Wing. ๐Ÿซก

The 172nd Airlift Wing is proud to continue joint relief efforts to thirteen counties across north Mississippi as those locations recover from Winter Storm Fern. The Mississippi National Guard has transported over 8,500 cases of bottled water, over 3,000 boxes of MREs, fuel, cots, blankets and more across the impacted area.

We are shoulder-to-shoulder with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, as well as other state and federal agencies, and are always ready for any response. ๐Ÿ“ธ by Senior Airman Shardae McAfee.

Yesterday, Airmen from the 172nd Civil Engineer Squadron were activated in response to a winter weather emergency declared by Gov. Tate Reeves.

As part of a joint task force of the Mississippi National Guard, these expert CE specialists offer a wide range of support as a debris removal team, assisting the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and other state resources responding to the heavily-impacted counties of north Mississippi. Members of the 209th Special Operations Civil Engineer Squadron, a south-Mississippi GSU of the 172nd Airlift Wing, is also responding. These Guard Airmen truly embody and display our core values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence in All We Do.
