This week, June 11–17, 2026, we proudly celebrate Nursing Assistant Week and honor the more than 13,000 nursing assistants across the VA who show up every single day with excellence, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to our Veterans.

From assisting with daily living activities and monitoring patient conditions to preparing medical equipment and providing critical support to clinical staff — our nursing assistants are essential to the care team and irreplaceable in the lives of the Veterans they serve. Their sharp observations and strong communication skills make our patients safer and our care stronger.

Thank you to every VA nursing assistant for your dedication, your heart, and your commitment to delivering patient-centered, high-quality care. You are seen, you are valued, and you are deeply appreciated!

Coffee. Conversation. Connection.

Join us for the Weekly Veteran’s Coffee Social every Wednesday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the dining hall across from the cafeteria at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center.

This relaxed, welcoming space brings Veterans, families, and supporters together to connect, share, and build community—one cup at a time. Facilitated by Peer Support staff, these gatherings are all about meaningful conversations and strengthening support networks.

Columbus, MS — You showed UP! 🎉

Our Veterans Town Hall was a tremendous success and we couldn't be more grateful for the outstanding turnout and engagement from our Veteran community. From meaningful questions to important conversations, this event was a true reflection of the power of community coming together.

We are committed to meeting our Veterans where they are, addressing their concerns, and providing the answers and support they deserve — and events like this allow us to do just that.
A heartfelt thank you to the American Legion Post #69 for their gracious hospitality and for making our Veterans feel right at home.
