Today, YDMS joined the fight for fair maps at the Legislative Redistricting hearing and press conference. Redistricting shapes who gets heard and who gets left out, and we refuse to be left out of that conversation. 📣 We were in the room today, and we'll keep showing up in EVERY room.

From the lunch counter sit-ins 🪑in Jackson to the voter registration🗳️ drives of Freedom Summer in the Delta, young Mississippians proved something the whole world needed to see — when young folks in Mississippi organize, WE MOVE AMERICAN DEMOCRACY FORWARD.

That same ✨energy✨ lives in us today.🔥

Today, YDMS honors Juneteenth—a commemoration of Black liberation, resilience, and the legacy of emancipation. ❤️💚💛

On June 19, 1865, in Galveston, Texas, more than 250,000 enslaved Black people learned they were free.

Today, we honor that freedom and underscore the importance of continuing the work for justice, equity, and progress as we build a more equitable and civically engaged Mississippi.
