This week, our 911 dispatchers visited several of our fire stations to enhance their understanding of each apparatus and its specific capabilities. By learning what each truck can and cannot do, our dispatchers are even better equipped to provide accurate information and coordinated responses during emergencies.

They also had the opportunity to meet with our medics and learn that while our medic units are equipped with nearly everything an ambulance carries, they are not designed for patient transport.

It's all part of keeping our teams connected and ready to serve our community better than ever . ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ“ž๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŽ‰ Americaโ€™s 9-1-1 professionals are celebrating the U.S. Senateโ€™s action to classify 9-1-1 professionals as public safety, not clerical, personnel.

The Senate on Wednesday approved the Enhancing First Response Act (S.725), a bill supported by NENA: The 9-1-1 Association, which would direct the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to reclassify Public Safety Telecommunicators as a โ€œProtective Service Occupationโ€ in the federal Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) system.

Currently, 9-1-1 professionals are classified as โ€œOffice and Administrative Support,โ€ a designation that fails to reflect the highly specialized, lifesaving work they perform daily alongside other first responders. This no-cost, bipartisan legislation would correct this outdated classification, ensuring that 9-1-1 professionals receive the respect and recognition they deserve.

โ€œEvery day, 9-1-1 professionals are the FIRST first responders in thousands of emergencies,โ€ said NENA CEO John Provenzano. โ€œReclassifying Public Safety Telecommunicators as Protective Service Occupations is a long-overdue correction that recognizes their indispensable role in public safety.โ€
